Even I, with my ridiculous level of devotion to this site, cannot be arsed to type out segments from Dave's book.

What was the gist? "Cuck Those Funts!" ?

Right, I have the book here. He talks about his first divorce, then mentions this site and that we had a thread about it, and even quotes a couple of posts from said thread. He says that the thread rumbled on with weird rumours and that this speculation basically forced him to announce it on air. He adds that he finds it "fascinating" (hmm) that we are so interested in his private life. I know we get another mention later in the book, but I can't find it.

Yeah, why us listeners would be interested in one major part of someone's private life when he talks about his private life to the same listeners every day? Weird, that.

the forum broke the news over his divorce before he did which would understandably annoy him. He hadn't spoken about it on air at all because of there being a child involved and probably never would have done were it not for it being discussed here.

I don't know why I remember this, but he said on air 'they discuss the most private things on there', when referring to this site.

I don't know what Dave will do myself, I hope he comes back with Chris one day though. The jungle may be an option, and it wouldn't surprise me. He has a daughter to support after all

To be fair, he got a lot of content of that book from this website and it's sound archive. You look at all the parody song and tales he tells and 99% of them are available here, even from the afternoon shows.

I didn't know Dom did voice training either, and has done for the past 6 years :-o

No, we're talking about his first divorce - no kids there. He tweeted stating he had split from Jayne before it had been mentioned on here.

I think dave is more than financially secure now. But I don't think he's ready for retirement just yet. If he does more reality tv, I'll lose respect, and I know that will hurt him

I don't think Dave would particularly care what people say about him, so long as he made good money out if it.

Yes, that's what I would find so disappointing. I'd prefer to be able to have more respect for Dave. I hope he doesn't do it.

Deadly wrote:The thing he has against him in terms of reality tv is he is no longer broadcasting to 8 million people a day. The promotion DoI got was huge because of him being on the show daily. He's very comfortable on 5Live which is why I'm surprised he left the BBC altogether. That being said there are lots of other networks for him to go to. Talksport to name one of them.

I wish. He would be better than the whole lot of them save perhaps Hawksbee & Jacobs or Danny Kelly.
But given his sense of humour he would be ideal for the 10pm to 1am slot now occupied by the excreble Andy Goldstein, a man so puerile & immature he makes Finbarr Saunders look like Noel Coward.

Of course he won't go there, sadly, but we can dream.

Chappers & Dave on drivetime doing a sports related show (with Dom reading the news) would be AMAZING. Much better than Gough and Durham.

I'd listen to that show every day.

And TalkSport is exactly the kind of network where their level of technical expertise would be up to par, and Dom's abilities would be well ahead of the game. Getting too excited about this, as it would never happen.

Lets be honest, my shoes & your socks would make a better show of it than Durham & Goff.
Durham's anti Arsenal obsession has long gone from annoying to genuinely disturbing. And i'm not a fan of Arsenal by any means. And Darren Gough is an embarrassment to Barnsley - if there can be such a thing.

But Dave , Chappers & Dom there would be great, i'm not sure how they would handle all the white vaaaan man callers without ripping the piss out of them though. Be great to listen & find out.

But as you say, its all a bit pointless, but its given me a great idea for a fantasy radio show thread.

Yep, it was code :)

I've never seen that pic of Chappers and Dave in their pants before. Nice.

I find myself not all that curious about what Dom is going to do if I'm honest.

Dom is the unsung hero of the show in my eyes. Without him it would not have been nearly as good as it was.

Agreed. It would still have been bloody good, but Dom was fantastic and and if he'd left I'd have missed him massively.

I'm with you on that, I'm only really interested in if (and when) Chris will reappear on radio and in what form so unless it's to do with that...

I agree that Dom was a big part of the shows success along with Dave and Aled/Rachel but fundamentally it needed Chris to be entertaining for me (as demonstrated when Vernon would stand in).

I agree with this 100%. I have to say out of everyone on the show, Dom was my favorite. Now, having listened to the very first show, I'm really glad that Dom's role in it grew over time.

I agree also. You have to see Dom as sprinkling on top that added the sparkle to the show. He offered Chris lots of segueways of chat and in return responded amazingly well and timed to perfection! This was the same with Rachel, Carrie and Dom. They all understood each other very well outside of the Chris/Dave friendship.
