Massively unfair. Have you listened to Grimmy on Radio 1 before?

chrysostom wrote:Is it just me who likes Matt Edmonson?

No. I didnt like him when he first started, but what I have heard of him since has been very good. I think he is definitely worthy of a weekend show.

Signs of a false broadcaster (same as the Fearne, Greg, Matt Edmondson crowd). At least Chris stuck to his guns and ranted about something he didn't like/appreciate (and doing it honestly rather than contraversially). I'm looking forward to Grimmy's show even more now because it sounds like it maybe a huge train crash. Shame Matt Fincham will be associated to it.

Come on now,
Let's not disappear up Chris' arse here.

He's had his moments as well. Guests booked to come on the show he had made fun of weeks earlier and then have to interview them, civilly, to see him toe the company line (x-factor finalists etc), you just smile nod and get on with it.

Maybe Grimmers isn't jumping out his skin at the prospect of meeting the Biebs but by * will he be happy with tween spurtage that's gonna hit the online community talking about it.

No offence.

LOL.
It was knocked up in literally about 2 minutes and I'm no expert at Photoshop, so none taken.

I really don't like him for some reason. Every time I hear his name, all I can think of is it being said like this:

No idea why. I think I'm still a big kid at heart.

Has it really only been that? It feels like longer...[/quote]

I think it was announced two months ago he was getting the breakfast show. I should remember as it was such a dark day.
He decided on that day that he loves the X-Factor and really thinks One Direction are the hottest new teen band around.

To be fair, whenever he's covered for Scott in the last 2-3 years he's done the whole teen pop thing, as well as doing T4 which is very much about teen pop - presenting teen awards etc. etc.

I think you're giving him a bit too much credit for being 'indy' - he's been very mainstream on the radio for a long time.

Maybe more so in his later years on the show but the first few years saw him cancel interviews for lateness/lazyness. Not something you'd see from many other broadcasters. However, if Chris had to interview guest that he'd mocked before; he'd either own up or be professional about it. Maybe I'm being unbiased, but musical opinions of the list I gave are probably not true from when they say (this is cool etc) and they pretty much jump on the bandwagon to remain popular with their audiences. That's the face of TV personalities (or extreme commercial radio personality). Harsh, but true.

If Grimmy is not in control to some degree, then it's going to possibly sound crap. Will be hard not to compare with TCMS. That's why the choice of Grimmy will either sink or swim very quickly.

The only people I like on Radio 1 now are:

Greg James, Zane Lowe and Huw Stevens (probably in that order too).

The sad thing about that is Zane is 39 and Huw is 31. I can't imagine they have long left at Radio 1.

And chrysostom is the mastermind behind the Team_Moyles account :)

Well, there's a pic on his instagram of him with Carly Rae Jepsen from just under six months ago...

You have clearly never heard Nick Grimshaw on the radio.

Always inevitable - but as long as there's a focused spike on Monday (which hopefully there will be) It might gain quite a bit of momentum. The ideas with the pictures is that people will RT them and gain further awareness.

I'd like to nudge the thread back towards the positive side if possible - more silly pictures.

I really have no idea what you're getting at here in relation to what I said but I'm sure it makes for an interesting rebuttal.
I'm nearly done for the day so baws to figuring it out.

Will maybe have another stab at it mid way through Beer O'Clock tonight, until then...

I have but not for any significant length of time which is why I'm giving him a chance. Whenever I have heard the show he has played what I'll refer to typical indy rubbish. Never heard him play Bieber or One Direction.

To be fair, it's probably gobble-gobble being that I've been up since 5:30am this morning and I'm almost chuffed out wanting to go home!

Simply, CM was an honest broadcaster whether he had to toe the station line or not. I wouldnt be surprised if he got plenty of slapped wrists during his duration and had to zip up his personal opinion when they booked an important guest to the station and not him personally.
