McFlyday was not a favourite feature of mine, but gawd, I miss it.

I remember Scott Mills or possibly Radio2 played it once on a Wednesday - that should be a hanging offence - screwed up my whole week.

Real Radio North East had a fundraising day on Friday in aid of Help For Heroes. I offered a donation via twitter of £25 if they played Stargirl at 8.15am. They declined the offer saying it wasn't enough

I didn't like it at first (not even their best song, I thought, and the standards aren't generally that high) but over time it just came to mean Friday like nothing else could! To use the Christmas song parallel again, most of those you wouldn't listen to for their musical quality the rest of the year, but they just work because of their association with a certain time of year. It's the same now with Stargirl and a Friday morning!

By the way, anyone remember how "McFlyday" started (guess it was just one of the team making the pun when McFly came up on the playlist on a Friday) and how/why it became a permanent feature? Did it start before Tina joined the show?

I seem to remember Chris choosing it for the Golden Hour one Friday and going on about how great a song it was, and then McFly Day starting not long after. Although I think it was called "McFly Friday" to begin with and the name didn't get shortened until the second or third week they did it.

At least that's my memory of it - ask me again in about 5 years when I've reached that point in the breakfast show replays.
