Does anyone else feel they have taken the show for granted. Only now, when it is no longer there, I finally appreciate what amazing radio we had available to listen to. I used to listen to most shows back on the iplayer in the evenings years ago, but in the last few years I only listened to the first hour or so whilst waking up and driving to work. I wish I had listened to every minute of it!


I want to know, what you guys on here will miss the most about the Chris Moyles Show.


For me, it is the cheesy songs, followed by the tired voices of Chris, Dave, Aled and Dom talking chit chat up until the news. It was the best way to wake up everyday, and I am going to miss it so bad. I don't want crappy drum and bass at 6.31am. Plus, the Chris Moyles show gave you funny, topical and interesting banter, music, and quality news which kept you in touch with what is going on in the world. Something I don't think anyone will ever master quite like Chris Moyles. (Oh and Weather...but not always accurate!).

And remember, possibly the best, most relevant thing Chris Moyles has ever said, "For those of you who are thinking Jesus, it's just a radio show, YOU DON'T GET IT!"


Look forward to reading what everyone else is going to miss.

For me it was like spending the morning with mates, I even got up earlier than necessary just to listen to the banter.

The whole team were like a family/soap opera, all playing an important part, and I often marvelled how they didn't talk over each other.

I'll also miss his impressions, slick comedy links/quotes and finding random stuff on the computers (emergency links/internal phone) and messing around with it.

Not to mention the listeners campaigns like Toby Lerone.

I might actually cry. It's only just sinking in that this is it, Grimmy from now on on mornings.

I mustn't have been the only one who, in a groggy morning state, put the radio on at 6.25 after getting up only to remember with a groan that there was no funny grumpiness , whinging & pish taking to wake up & have a coffee to, but just some inane d-list worshipping cloned radio monkey pimping auto-tuned ear sludge to pre-pubescent taste dodgers.

I tuned in this morning just to make sure it wasn't a big prank and Moyles and the team were still on! I was bitterly disappointed! Horrible that all the pages are slowly going, it's becoming more and more real!

I couldn't agree more with the original post. For some reason, I just didn't listen to Radio 1 when I was a school pupil. My mum had the local commercial station on the radio in the kitchen constantly and in the car so I just listened to that. I always knew, why I don't know, that Chris Moyles was the breakfast show host on Radio 1. I can vaguely remember tuning in to his first breakfast show just because of the press attention it got (much like Grimmy got in the last few weeks) but then I don't think I came across Chris again until he was on Top Gear, being driven to the Brits by Jeremy Clarkson in a stretched Fiat.

I regret it terribly now. I really do! I feel like a total geek saying it, but I figured this is the best place to mourn the loss of The Chris Moyles Show. :p I started going to university in September 2010, it was two hour drive on my own to a strange place where I would spend the week and then come home again at the weekends. Chris and the team were basically my mates in the car with me on the dull journey along the M11.

I used to set my alarm for 6:30 at uni, even when I didn't have to be anywhere until 9am, purely so I could be woken up by the Cheesy Song. I also loved how you could plan your morning around what was happening on the show, like the Tedious Link at 9:00 and Car Park Catchphrase at 9:45. The jingles, as well, were so warm and welcoming and showed Chris wasn't afraid to take the juice out of himself.

Having recently read both of Chris' books and Dave's book, I really appreciate who they are and what they do and it took me a week, it really did, to get over the end of the show. I was so miserable on the day of the final show I needed to share it with someone - which is why I joined here!

Now I'm waiting until the new year and hopefully a new show for Chris on Radio 1. I think he will miss doing radio pretty soon, it is what he has done all his life and loves doing. He showed when he covered for Greg James in March that he can make even crap features (It's ten to two, what you gonna go?) into something very enjoyable.

Not too far at all! It is this kind of passion and commitment that sets the show miles apart from any others! Doubt many people wake up excessively early to listen to heart or smooth!! The most annoying this about commercial radio is they tease everything too much! It's 7:05, and they tell a story, and you get..."find out what happened before 8:00am!". Why do they do this! You started the story...finish it now, not within the next 55 minutes!! Grrr

I hate threads like this. I've already been through the sadness phase as have most fans of the show and don't see why it needs to be rehashed again. Can't we just look forward to whats next?

Agree about taking the show for granted, before the announcement in July I couldn't really imagine mornings without TCMS, as I had only just started high school when I first listened to him in late 2004, so long that I could barely remember a time without the show in the mornings and while I don't think its properly sunk in yet, reading what Chris had put on his message to Grimmy this morning, 'Former owner of the Breakfast show' did sort of hit me, feels pretty surreal.

Not sure what exactly I'll miss most but I always loved the spontaneous shows with no scheduled guests, no big weekend or anything like that to have to talk about, just the team chatting about everything and nothing and having a laugh. But will in particular miss the little things like the continued banter around Dom's terrible weather reports, Dom's interviews with celebs, Roy's nonsense before carpark catchphrase that never failed to make me lol, Dave's hilariously badly organised games (like the Euro 2012 sweepstake ) and so many other things. I'm not sure I'll ever enjoy another radio show as much as I enjoyed TCMS, (well not unless Ricky Gervais does radio again with SM and KP again).

Listening to a show from March today, I realized how much I miss CLASSICAL CLASS. I didn't like it at first, but it really grew on me. It's so lovely and gentle, but never far from a good laugh.

Seeing the name Steve Jones yesterday. Reminded me of Chris making up a song about the Steve Jones that's on't telly about him being gay. This was to do with him dating Ferne Cotton or something.

It was sung to a tune of a song that was out at that moment in time .. few years back.

Anyway, it was a lovely memory of the off the cuff ditties Chris made up. I will miss them

I'm missing the Cheesy Song & general random banter, Dom's inaccurate weather reports and the general "inclusion" feel the show gave you when listening to them (if that makes sense).


I've spoken to a couple of people at work and they all agree the new Breakfast Show is shite, the "banter" (or lack of it) is really telling now, just glad we have the massive archive we do.

Steve Jones was sex buddies with Fearne at the time - Chris was jealous of his success in the states, good looks and conquests - so decided to spread a fake rumour that he was gay and all these women were beards. If I remember rightly, there were hand movements involved.
