As you may recall earlier in the year alot of my friends were put on redundancy and four lost their jobs, the rest including one of my best friends, who was pregnant at the time, kept thier jobs.

Today all of them were pulled in again and where told they were up for it again and only 3 of the remaining 7 would be keeping their jobs.

The girl who is temporarilly filling in for my friend whilst she's on maternity leave is more than likely to lose her job as she was the last one in and on a temp contract (she left another job to start at our place about 10 weeks ago and was enjoying it a lot here) my friend who is on maternity apparently isn't safe either now because even thoufh she's is on leave

At this stage no one really knows who will stay and who will go and to be honest none of them should go.

I again have somehow avoided redundancy (and some would say shoild be greatful to still have a job, which I am) but yet again it's just so soul destroying seeing friends go through that shit yet again, when I started there ten years ago there was roughly 150-200 office based staff, after they have chosen who will stay and who will go there will be 5.5 (one of the girls is part time as she has come back recently off of maternity leave and isn't up for redundancy.)

I know I'm still lucky to have a job but to be honest I just feel so bad for those people again, especially in an office where everyone has always got on so well, the directors are just intent on killing the soul in our office, this may just do it. :(

Came in this morning to an email, which although these weren't the exact words used, the underlining message was "Tim, you've fecked this up, explain yourself" with a screen print attached of something looking very odd. But, with the ultimate sin commited, copying in to the email all manor of highly important people, who are nothing to do with the issue in hand.

So, I've investigated and cannot find, anywhere, this error. All is fine and looking as it should. Odd...?

Needless to say I have fired back an equally pissy email highlighting that I had indeed done everything correctly and I have no idea how 'you' even managed to unearth this info you supposedly took a screen shot of.

Roll on 09:00 when battle can fully commence. *ers.

When this iPlayer Radio app comes to Android it had better be an improvement on the current (general iPlayer) one, which forces you to have the app open and unable to do anything else on your phone when you're listening to a programme. :?

Also, the iPlayer radio app with a radio alarm for iPhone has now been released by the BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latest ... radio.html) but AFTER Chris' show stops. I would have loved something like this during the good old days.

Get in Tune In Radio app. It's got an alarm clock function and has hundreds of stations to choose from.

BBC likes to be slightly behind the times, but then get it spot on. They've probably worked on this for a couple of years back their dev labs. As you say, nothing to really use it for in the mornings. However, I have started to get CM withdrawal symptoms. So I'm giving Chris Evans a go this week as the music on 6music is a little to relaxing in the mornings.

This is the start of a rant, but the current Tory government (coalition my arse) is pissing me off no end today. I know that's nothing new, but the kind of rhetoric that's coming out in this Tory conference is absolutely disgusting.

Apparently the use of "disproportionate force" is acceptable if someone breaks into your home - anything that's disproportionate, by virtue of the fact that it's disproportionate, is wholly inappropriate. This is pandering to the Mail and Express types. For some reason I was switched on to Three Counties Radio this morning and they were promoting the guy who's on after the Breakfast Show. Now, I know he was trying to raise a reaction, but still - the question for his phone in was "is it OK to kill a burglar?", to which the answer should be a resounding "no" for any right-thinking person.

Secondly, the welfare thing. Again on Three Counties this morning, they were talking about food banks and how people need to use them and the breakfast show guy was saying that it's unbelievable and unacceptable that in 2012 people in this country cannot afford food - this I agree with - but then in the next breath (related to the previous point) he said that it's partly your fault if you don't properly secure your home and you're burgled. A woman rang him up to pick up on this point very well and her story was heart-breaking. She and her husband had two children, who they could afford to provide for when they had them. Her husband, who was the main bread-winner, was in a very bad traffic accident and she then had to become his full-time carer. One of her sons, who has dyspraxia and was bullied for it at school developed tourettes as a result of the bullying and then had a nervous breakdown. The woman is also his full-time carer. Both of her husband and son have had their disability living allowance taken away, they lost their house and are in social housing and have had to use the food banks. The ONLY benefits they get are child tax credits and child benefit, which amounts to around £8,000 per year. And Gideon STILL wants to cut the welfare bill. Utter arseholes.

This one is down to common sense. Anyone should have a right to defend their home, but more importantly themselves and their friends/family if they're living in the same residence. However, killing that burglar should be the last you do unless they're putting your own life or someone else's life at risk. Most people wouldnt go out to kill the burglar, but if their actions did and is justified, then that person shouldnt be prosecuted for that.

This I totally find awful and abuse of the reassessment of people on the welfare system. I'd love to know the reasons why the father/son's DLA was taken away from them. Especially if the father is injured to point of not being able to work. Tourettes is another thing and unfortunately people are quick to judge. I would of thought kicking people who can genuinely work would balance out the savings and allow government to help people in this situation much more effectively. Doesn't seem the case and disgusting, even as a Tory voter who thought this sort of thing wouldnt happen. :(

BOOM!

A spoken apology in front of the team and an emailed groveling for causing trouble. Tim wins.

Well if they got arsey over a fake screenshot that he knew eff all about that was only distributed in house, imagine the clusterf**k if he posted the humiliation online for the whole world to see.

Companies can be weird about photos & vids & things like that, for example where i work we are strictly forbidden to photograph or film anything in the factory. But ,quite frankly, if you've seen one common or garden plastic injection moulding machine then you've probably seen one too many.
And to make that farce worse a few months ago they filmed a currently running TV ad for the NI government sponsored investment board in our department where our managing director stands spouting his bit of spiel in front of some of those supposedly top secret bloody machines.

Oh wow. Quite a lenient sentence as well, considering that he was accused of physical abuse as well. I doubt he'll get many more happy go lucky roles based on his personality, or otherwise (which some might see as Karma).

I'm still not sure what he actually did. It looks to me like the sentence is saying "Yes, you yelled at her, you shouted at her and called her names like she was a piece of shit, and you probably slapped her a few times so we have to find you guilty - but she was clearly a raving loony who has made a lot of what happened sound like it was you bullying her when it probably wasn't as simple as that, so here's a light sentence."

And if that IS what the sentence is saying, well, I'm not sure I like it a lot. Still, not for me to like.

I can't understand why that guy was jailed just for posting a joke online. Yes, it might have been in poor taste, but that hasn't stopped Frankie Boyle. He's not exactly a danger to society either, and now his life is essentially destroyed.
