Oh I'll lose that battle I've no doubt. My opinion about disloyalty is in the minority but I stand by it. If your football team got evicted from their stadium and their rivals move in would you go watch them?

I have taken it to heart. I've noticed your schtick is to make inflammatory statements and then when others react, turn the responsibility for it onto them. Just like you accusing me of being on a high horse when you were tweeting abuse to Grimmy.

You were on your high horse. You are not the Twitter police.

And they weren't abusive tweets either before you start with that.

I was expressing my opinion about it. Something you're generally very keen on the right to do.

That analogy doesn't apply. The 'team' (Chris Moyles show) occupying the 'stadium' (breakfast slot) didn't leave, they were liquidated. If they were evicted, they'd be playing elsewhere. If your local team was liquidated, then you'd be pretty anal if you branded people going to see the new team as disloyal.

dimtimjim wrote:#TeamHowTheHellHaveWeGotToThisSituation

Things got WAY too tribal.

I saw people claiming that Sara Cox and even Dave's Jayne were disloyal for supporting the show.

I guess if you're going to brand someone as 'disloyal' to a show on a fan forum, you probably shouldn't choose a poster who has put a lot of effort into both the forum and audio content featured on the forum. If you listen to Chris Evans you're technically validating the assertion that over 30s should listen to Radio 2.

Here's a better comparison (because that one's shit):

Your favourite football team upsticks and relocate to another country whereupon they become a cricket team.

Your local non-league team moves into the stadium and with no other team to support, you while away the occasional saturday afternoon watching a team you don't really care about, but that pass the time.

Nice edit. Perhaps people should have a read of your timeline and they can decide for themselves.

I meant edited your post, not your twitter.

ETA: now you've edited again that statement makes no sense.

Well this worked out well, didn't it? Does this thread remind you of some other radio based forum, Wykey? :-D

I may as well stick my oar in & stir things up a bit since every other bugger has.

I'm well, well over the demographic so my opinion is as worthless as as Greek bonds, but personally I couldn't bring myself to listen to any more than a few minutes of ImageGrimmyImage & it helps that I think his presenting of the breakfast show is amateurish & crass. I never listened to his evening show (or any other R1 show other than Chris - which might in someway explain Cooper's & the BBC trust's reasoning) so I don't know how good or not he was on that. But I think he was picked on his haircut & his Nathan Barleyism rather than his virtually non-existent radio background.

My 13 year old daughter still listens at the minute because of her appalling taste in music - yes, I must be a failing parent, though I swear that one day she'll recognise the majesty of the mighty Rush! - but in her own words she thinks Grimshaw is 'very annoying'.

And I have to admit that the main reason I won't listen is out of spite. That does not mean that anyone who does is disloyal.
I realise some people might like him & think he's being forced to work under unreasonable constraints, or even - God help us - like the playlist. Other people may stay tuned because, lets face it, if you haven't got access to DAB or internet radio in the mornings & the vast majority still haven't, then there is no recognisable, stand out alternative in the commercial sector & at least theres no ads on R1 so why bother tuning elsewhere. The vast majority of radio listening is no more than muzak or background noise that you only pay attention too when you hear something you like, so for most the breakfast show is now no different from the rest of the day. Its just a rather childish personal grudge I have that means I won't bother.

It was a testament to Chris' skill & humour that he had one of the very few radio shows that made you sit up & actually listen to in case you missed something good. Grimshaw has people sitting up too, unfortunately it seems it might be to reach out & turn off.
Thats if they can be bothered to anyway.

What's up with all the crappy analogy's? Too confusing! It's simple. Deadly was questioning your loyalty to the CM show, not your contribution here (that's not up for debate as all the stuff here is ace!). Just how anyone can support the CM show, it's methods, it's style, it's dedication to entertain people in a proper way that CM understood very well as a pro. And then support a hipster who has hardly any radio experience in comparison and comes from an odd celebrity world where that's the only tangible thing that the listeners can relate to. That's more Radio 1's fault than his, but still.

Of course, you're entitled to your own opinion. No-one's saying you're nasty or horrible or any of your content is worth anything. That's all. Smile! :D

But those things are one and the same to me. My contributions represent my loyalty. I do not sit for hours transcribing Tedious Links cos it's a fun thing to do. I do it because I think other people want to read them. I now feel like I'm being told none of it is enough and, at the risk of doing a Chrisjames, I will leave the site before I allow people to dictate to me what I should and shouldn't listen to based on their idea of what loyalty means.

Don't say that too loud, you'll set *them* off, and I'll be forced to shed my happy-go-lucky, jovial charm ;)

Maybe Mr Harris will do just that ;) It would make a sharp contrast from him telling someone that if he earned money for running this site he'd be paying me a wage!

I went on record in page 1 saying that nobody can question Nic's loyalty to the site, it's not up for debate. The work she has done here is incredible and certainly proves she is more than loyal. This didn't need to turn into a slanging match and I would have prefered it if Nic pm'ed me to take issue with it than drawing everyone else into it. The situation has become out of control for no reason. It's one opinion against another and not personal.
#482392
just because nicola listens to grimmy doesnt means shes "supporting" him. its not a pissing war. get a grip on yourselves the lot of you, so we had a laugh with #teammoyles but thats all it was. I quite enjoy grimmys show but thats because im a "yooth" and its my kinda music. doesnt mean I dislike chris and the team now. its not as 50/50 as people are making out. You can listen to more than one show, if someone now listens to Evans does that mean they are "supporting" him. Nicola is a cracking lass whos done shed loads here, show some respect.
I normally get on with most people here, but its starting to get petty. If I want playground bitchiness id go back to high school.

IM REALLY HUNGOVER AND I CAME ON HERE FOR SOME LULZ AND NOW LOOK WHAT Y'ALL MADE ME DO. :(

So you call me disloyal in a public forum but I shouldn't respond in a public forum? What kind of crap is that?

Hey y'all. I'm completely new but have been browsing the forums for a while. I've been an avid fan of TCMS since childhood and I am still dut up that he left.

I just wanted to say after watching this thread that regardless of if others think anyone is disloyal, as a fan I knew about this forum and in particular Nicola_Red from Chris' own chats for years. Nic, no one is more loyal to you. I sobbed when I saw Aled holding the book you guys made. A random person out there KNOWS how loyal you are, don't sweat it over someones opinion. Sticks and stones.

Nic, you're very loyal. If someone chose to use their first post to say so (though it could be you setting up another account but I very much doubt it) then obviously don't take the things Deadly said to heart.

Sorted!

Definitely not Nic in disguise, I assure you. Please don't stop your good work here, Nic. There may be hundreds of members here, but there's a lot that never sign up but still use your hard work to get them through this difficult time. You've improved my days drastically because of your devotion and hard work.
