Bit random and doubt this will be in the right place etc...

I used to download the podcasts (from R1) at work and stick them on my phone to transfer to home to sit and listen to.

I can't fit the "new" early podcasts onto my phone and they're too big for a CD...

Anyway to get them smaller?

Thanks

You could put them on a USB drive instead. Or get a bigger phone.

Have I missed something? Scrapped? 8O
In that case I'll have to get the gear involved for uploading to the wiki site instead of what seems to be a rapidly defunct Chris Moyles fan site.

The site is not defunct! Please don't say that. I still work hard on this shit. Things are bound to be quiet right now, but that's not the same as defunct.

The files are still being uploaded to IA, it's only the links that are being moved to the Wiki. And it's actually quite a bit easier on the eye.

Adding new ones isn't hard either. If your link was:

Monday 12th January 2009

Then you would go to:

http://chrismoyles.net/wiki/index.php/T ... loads/2009

click on the Edit button (to the right of the month, in this case January), and insert this text:

|-
| Monday 12th January 2009
| [http://archive.org/download/TheFirstLiveShowOf2009/2009-01-12.mp3 Download]
|

into what is currently this text:

= January =
{| style="width:100%;"
|- style="background-color: #ddd;"
! style="width:240px;" | Date !! style="width: 80px;" | Link !! Comment
|}

so it would become:

= January =
{| style="width:100%;"
|- style="background-color: #ddd;"
! style="width:240px;" | Date !! style="width: 80px;" | Link !! Comment
|-
| Monday 12th January 2009
| [http://archive.org/download/TheFirstLiveShowOf2009/2009-01-12.mp3 Download]
|
|}

So you could just keep a copy of that first piece of text with your link in, and modify that to the correct date each time you had a new one to add.

The only thing is, we still need to post something here, just to let people know that the show has been added. Is there a way for people to be notified by email when it gets updated? Because if not, then that is a bit of a disadvantage.

As a side question.
What do any of you use to convert re files to wav or mp3? I've been using magic rm and the bloody thing keeps crashing now. So I'm looking for a free alternative..

According to this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=25009&hilit=wiki&start=25

you do need to PM Chris to join the wiki. Slaphead, just click on the button under his name on any of his posts to PM him if you're having trouble doing it another way.

If your phone has an SD card slot, you could buy a bigger SD card or another one just for the podcasts.
