Surely some Tena Lady would be a better shout. PM Yuds, she buys it in bulk so will no doubt be able to spare you a few.

I thought you used them to blow your nose? Sure you can hand over a few. 8O

I originally thought they were a product designed for menstrual fluid containment and purchased a packet for my good lady wife accordingly.

Needless to say this was not the product she was looking for and wasn't particularly impressed with my comment of 'Ah, just stick it down there. It's better than * all.'

That's my top tip of the day guys. Tena Lady = Not for menstrual flow retention.

Never thought I'd see Tena Lady mentioned in this car thread.

I thought you'd be more perturbed by the menstrual flow retention.

possibles

1) heater matrix has burst and the water is from there, the more condensation you have, the more you use the heater the more water comes out under the dash, and into the carpet, you will note the engine temp rising and eventally a light will come on
2) the wiper stem seals are letting in water which runs down the back of the dash and into the carpet
3) the rubber gaiters that cover where the brake and clutch peddles go through the bulkhead are split
4) the windcreen washer pipe front or rear is leaking into the front bulkhead or the rear bootlid or if it travles through the interior has been chopped/nicked by something
5) the air vent plenum either under the top edge of the bonnet or in the front scuttle is blocked up with leaves which means water that runs down the screen tends to lie at a level higher than necessary and slowly drians through into the car via places that would never normally be exposed. (open bonnet and have a root around just below the screen, remove any rotting vegetation) check to see if the plastic covers in this area are cracked or coming loose missing plastic rivets??
6) the water drian from the pollen filter has come off
7) engin under tray has come off and water is spraying up and coming in through shifter peddle linkage
8) rust holes in the inner wings
9) plastic membrane inside door is split, car doors designed to allow rainwater to flow in and out the bottom, casues a problem if the drain holes get blocked, doors fill up and the glue on the membrane dissolves and water comes in via the bottom of the door trim
OR
your window rubbers are FECKED
OR
Rust has come to lodge and there is a big bugger of a hole somewhere, would suggest front bulkhead under dash where there is some kind of load bareing structure i.e where the column bolts on to the floor or where the peddle box is bolted in..brake peddle mounting is usual suspect

After putting up with a cracked windscreen for well over a year, I finally got it replaced 4 months ago... Its now cracked again. Humph.

Leaks are a nightmare to pinpoint sometimes. One of my rear light clusters is letting water in and getting the boot soaking wet so I need to re-seal it!

charlalottie wrote:I am starting to wonder if it's a similar issue to what you've just described as it's ridiculously wet in the very back corner. For now I'm just trying to get the boot as dry as possible so I can work out a bit better where it's coming in.

There *may* be a rubber bung under the spare tyre well, I had to take that out to let the water out of there, it was like a mini paddling pool! It would also let air in which might help dry it out

Also: Thread renamed to make it more inviting to ask us car geeks questions.

If the rain carries on like this, you might end up finding this instead:

Seriously though, are you able to dry out all the metallic surfaces around where you suspect the leak, then keep an eye on them for trickles of water? Maybe even take it through a car wash, or hose it down with a jet?

I think it was to do with the engine mounts where it had collapsed. Nissan Juke if I remember correctly. I'm sure it coming from the horses mouth will correct me as this is a test of my shite short-term memory.

It's a Nissan Note and it was three things.
Turbo leaking oil
Intercooler radiator with a hole in it
And a broken engine mount

The turbo was a loose pipe and a tiny clip that cost 29p and 5mins to fix
The intercooler radiator he reckons has been like it for years and isn't likely to cause any problems for years(he told us to come back when we see blue smoke coming out the exhaust.
The engine mount was a snapped bolt that cost a couple of quid and 3 hours labour

Personally, if the intercooler had a hole in it I wouldn't hesitate getting it replaced. if anything were to come off from the intercooler and go into your turbo you'd be looking at more than £75 for a new turbo!

If it's letting air in too, that air will be unfiltered which probably isn't good for the engine!
#484153
Well...he reckons the hole is minscule and blocked up anyway. We might replace the intercooler anyway as we can get the part for £100. But he works with Tubo Diesels on a daily basis and I am going to take his word for it
