At least they're creating jobs rather than closing shops; not that it justifies paying hardly any tax at all. Blame the gov/finance regulator for allowing it to happen though as they clearly know there are loop-holes within the current system and turning a blind eye to it. I'm sure you've purchased goods through Amazon/eBay/Paypal or any big international corp that pushes its profits back through Ireland.

I've had this "* all tax" high ground at work already when people have spotted the brand. Mehhhh, for me and everyone else to stop buying it isn't going to change the tax rules. Anyway, if I knew a good local coffee shop around here (that I've yet to find - I'd go there straight away).

It's that trade-off. Do you be lenient and allow companies to grow by encouraging them to invest in the economy rather than pay tax to the government (who will push it down the plughole anyway) or forcefully tax them, but then they may decide to not invest as much which doesnt create as many jobs etc. It should only be fair that if small corp is having to pay the full tax (they should get more tax breaks to encourage growth when they start out), then big corp should. It's all about leading by example and unfortunately, greed in capitalism drives this need to find loopholes/shortcuts in money to make the maximum growth for investors/shareholders/CEOs.

I know the system sucks arse and I know they aren't they only ones but just because they can, doesn't make it right. The people can force them to pay tax by refusing to use them until they use a more morally correct route.

Depends. If I was in a wealthy position and could afford to pay more, I would very much like to think that I would pay my fair share and not go for the loopholes.

Idealistically I'd like to think I'd do the same, but then I'd think - perhaps that money could be invested and return a profit, or whether my favourite charity might be more deserving of it...or even take the mindset that I shouldn't have to pay a higher proportion than someone else. It's a difficult one, but one the government could make a lot easier if they just admitted they want to fleece the rich because they can.

This one doesn't - Tory governments love letting the rich off the hook, because they and their friends are largely multi-millionaires themselves.

But the fact that the 'rich' are being taxed at a higher rate is in itself fleecing 'normal' rich people (as opposed to super millionaires). But as we're going to be breaking bread this weekend I'll wind my neck in!

Comet and their * of a delivery company, DPD - I sent Cat's laptop back to be fixed, they have apparently fixed it and sent it back. It should have been delivered to my work address, but they attempted instead to deliver it to my home address. They attempted to redeliver yesterday to my work address, but when the driver couldn't find the address, the * dunce turned round and went back, rather than ringing me to find out where it is. I only found this out at 5.40 yesterday, about 10 minutes after DPD closed, so Comet had no way of contacting them this morning. This morning, I asked them to ensure it was delivered today, to which the answer was "we will try, but we are not DPD, we can only request it" (err - who is the customer?! They have * up twice already).

Fast forward from this morning to just now, when I rang to chase the situation and the conversation goes like this:

Him: "I've spoken to my colleague Phil, who you spoke to this morning and he emailed them and is waiting for an answer back."
Me: "Can you chase it please?"
Him: "That's what I've just done by speaking to my colleague."
Me: "No, please can you chase the courier company."
Him: "No, I'm afraid we need to wait for the message back from them to see what the information is."
Me: "What if there is no message back?"
Him: "Well there should be."
Me: "So there's no way of chasing your supplier for information that you've requested?"
Him: "I'm afraid not, no."

Lesson learnt. That's why you should of bought a MacBook.

AppleCare > Take it into shop > New laptop > Data transferred > Walk out happy & no courier to worry about

And the hassle of going to Apple shop!! Which is initself a NASTY experience.

I'd rather have 18 failed laptop deliveries than 1 visit to an apple store, but thats jus' me.

AppleCare does not cover physical damage. It's not insurance.
