So, any Bond fans on here? Anyone looking forward to seeing Skyfall?

I'm in the process of converting myself - as a self confessed movie fan I'm embarrassed to say there are few Bond films i've actually seen, so I bought myself the box set last week and currently going through them in order, hopefully ending with seeing Skyfall at the cinema, although i better hurry up - i'm only 3 films in at the moment.

Sooo... favourite Bond movies please.

I'm a big fan of the Pierce Brosnan Bond films with Goldeneye being my favourite. I really liked Casino Royale but hated Quantem of Solace. I thought it was ploddy and boring. The new one has got great reviews from what I've seen so I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I love a lot of the films, but to be honest, however nostalgic the "purists" are about Sean Connery, whilst he was a great Bond, the films then were pretty shocking. They then got worse in the Roger Moore era - less said about that the better.

Timothy Dalton ushered in a new era of great writing and production, and Pierce Brosnan consolidated that and then took it forwards in leaps and bounds. But Daniel Craig is amazing as Bond, the best yet I think.

Casino Royale is my favourite Bond movie, the Daniel Craig one, not the ancient David Niven one. (Although Ian Fleming and David Niven were colleagues in various secret special forces departments during WW2, and Ian Fleming is on record as saying that in his mind, Bond was David Niven. Shame Niven only got to do a "spoof" version really.).

I oppose the later Pierce Brosnan films just because they're corny, cheesey and lack any class any of the previous films had. Glad to see Daniel Craig restored that class that I think is required.

Looking forward to see Skyfall next week though :D.

I love Bond! My James Bond was Mr Brosnan and went to see Goldeneye on my 12th birthday! I think Daniel Craig is a brilliant Bond.

I can't wait to see skyfall... I get goosebumps when a bond film starts!

Charlie Higson (as in fast show etc), who wrote the young Bond books, did a great Bond Q&A yesterday afternoon. Worth searching his timeline for it if you're a fan - he is @monstroso.

I believe Johnny is also a Bond fan - he and I have discussed on Twitter before who the next Bond should be. He knows I'm not a Daniel Craig fan. But to be honest whilst I love the idea of Bond, I don't think the actors they would typically pick to play him would ever be my type. The geeky boy playing Q in Skyfall, however...he's pretty hot.

Bonds films are great, and I believe they've got better over time, the newer ones being more polished etc.

As a kid, I loved Roger Moore as bond, but as already pointed out, re-watching these older ones does kinda highlight how bad they actually were! PB improved Bond, DC has really made the character his own. Although I also like the appointment of other key actors now working with him in new films (Judi Dench, for example), good casting.

I agree QoS wasn't the best film, bit slow. And yes, very much looking forward to Skyfall.

If you had suggested that you would make a post like that 6 months ago, I would of:) laughed myself a hernia.

I checked four cinemas here for Friday's listings and they are showing nothing but Skyfall. Showings every 15mins or so. I was surprised to say the least...

Interestingly the same here, I actually played the game on the N64 before watching the film though!

To this day Ourumov's OTT Russian accent still makes me chuckle.

It's easy to see why though - was looking for a showing in London on Friday and nearly all of them are 95% full, with only the seats at the front/side left.

I've sprung for a VIP cineworld seat, to get away from people who talk loudly or constantly RUSTLE.

re: James H - I wish they would put all this COD/Halo stuff to bed and just remake Goldeneye/Perfect Dark.

Erm... They did. It's called Goldeneye Reloaded: http://uk.ign.com/games/goldeneye-007/ps3-23720

Although I'm yet to play it, it seems to be well received!

That's crazy times. Needless to say, the bf and I have decided to abandon any plans to go to the cinema on Friday and go for a curry instead.
