The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I've always been under the same impression. I imagine it may have been difficult at times for a low maintenance person like Dave to be around a (self-confessed) high maintenance person like Aled for large amounts of time. Casting no aspersions on Aled, but I know I would struggle with it.

Fixed that for ya.

Thanks, you're too kind.

I'm a self-confessed grump myself, so I'm always going to be on Dave's side in a Dave versus Aled scenario.

Probably not. I was just stating that if there is/was one then I'm Team Dave. In my book grumpy people are realistic, where as overly enthusiastic people seem to be living in a state of ignorant bliss about the pointlessness of life and the fact that we're all going to die (probably in pain).

How's about that for a cheerful Sunday evening sentiment?

Come in, light up the room & then leave. :D

Woah woah woah, are you trying to tell me they weren't all best friends and didn't all live in the same house together, like the Monkees did?

That was never a goer though was it, I can't ever imagine Tina in the same building as Dave's dirty cheap market bought dyfes lying around the place.

So what's the story with Dave - is he now just a cut-price Rent-a-Celeb, scratching around for appearance money and desperately hoping for a shot at a second rate reality show?

As an observer, it looks to me at the moment like doing Dancing on Ice was the beginning of the end for Dave, personally and professionally (and no, I am not making any assumptions, just saying that it was immediately after that it was announced that he and Jayne were separating, so there is an association). I'm sure he got loads of money for it, but it hasn't done his credibility as a broadcaster any good, and if he doesn't go into I'm a Celeb this year it will be fair to say it hasn't raised his Rent-A-Celeb profile either. Normally I would never wish this on anyone, but I think I really do hope he does go into the jungle.

Chris and Dave go really well together on the radio. I think they should do something else together. Not really sure what Dom will do next.

Now you must bump this.

I was going to say the same. I suppose he could still be one of the 'back-ups' (who actually get the best gig of all if not needed) but I doubt it somehow. Disappointing, as I would have loved to see how he got on in the jungle. And if he isn't doing I'm a Celebrity then it makes the fact that he's not appearing on the tour with Chris quite puzzling.

I have a feeling we may have pretty much seen the last of Dave. I hope not.

northernsteve wrote:So the line up for the jungle has been announced, and Dave isn't part of it.

Hearing Adam Carolla talk about Kevin and Bean last week, it came up that their L.A. Morning Radio show has one presenter (Kevin) in L.A. and the other (Bean) in Seattle. They're not even in the same state, let alone the same room.

Adam's sidekick, Alison, asked if Kevin was offended by this idea when it first came up that Bean wanted to do the show from Seattle, and Adam said when you've spent 10 years mumbling at the same person at 6am in the morning, the bloom is off the rose.

I wonder if, after 14 years of working with Chris, that's it for Dave.

The morning banter between all the show members was generally friendly, but there was also a lot of Chris shouting at Dave that he was an idiot, and Chris does have a massive ego.

There is a long and storied history of sidekicks "breaking out" on their own and quickly crashing and burning.
Maybe doing regular gigs on his own and with Dom will be lucrative enough for Dave?

Also, he may still be a backup in case one of the IACGMOOH cast flakes out?!

In a public persona way, maybe so - given that a lot of the writing for the show seemed to be his department, I'd have thought it logical that's where his future lies, in the writing / creativity side of things and the odd panel / guest appearance.

Paul Hawksbee (on talkSPORT) writes for TV Burp and other such shows, I'd think it's a decent enough living.
