Great - now weekends will be a no-go area as well as weekdays (except for Scott)

Edmunson & Jamil - two of the most excruciating presenters to listen to.

So it seems the future of Radio 1 is definitely youth TV presenters and having to watch the shows on a screen order to feel part of it. Pity - I'm pretty sure I didn't need any of that to enjoy radio when I was a teenager.

At the risk of sounding hypocritical, given that he also came from the telly, I will be sorry to see Reggie go. I liked him after he stopped presenting with Fearne, and he I think he made a name for himself on the Chart Show. I doubt I'll miss Vernon though.

Scott Mills next surely! Would be the final straw for radio 1 (in the daytime anyway). The funny thing is that Im in their target audience at 21, yet it doesn't feel like it at all, they just never cease to go on and on about one direction and Justin bieber, its just embarrassing, I think grimmy had Bieber on again this week, the target audience is more like teenage girls aged 12 to 17, rather than what its supposed to be.

Man, Radio 1 seems to be getting worse. Now we have Youtube people presenting Radio shows now (never heard of them)! What next?!

Granted, I only really listened to Chris anyway (although I used to listen to The Surgery, Dev, The review shows etc) so none of this stuff really bothers me but for those who need to pass the time during the day, it seems like it is becoming irrelevant to a wider audience now.

Tom Deacon is a comedian?? Never heard that mentioned before when he made appearances on Scott's and also Matt's show.

Good comment by Jake.

I had a feeling Vernon would be next. I like listening to him on a sat morning but the last few months it hasn't felt right. Not that the show or vernon ha changed, just that it felt to me a little out of place in radio 1s new and shitty direction,

Im just biding my time with the 5 Scott Mills podcasts each week. Thats all radio 1 is to me now.

Im quite willing to expect talented 30 something Djs to want to go elsewhere off their own decision but the thought that Robbie Williams joins the ranks of Status Quo and the Bee Gees etc.. of banned artists on Radio 1 is unthinkable. Robbie Williams???????

Younger audience attracting fair enough but what age group are we going down to here? Is Bob the Builder going to be on this future play list or what?

He's going to do football with BT Vision. Disappointing that he won't be presenting F1 but can understand with a baby on the way why he wouldn't want to be travelling the globe. Think I'm going to try & make his book signing tomorrow

They go on about this ludicrous target age (which incidentally they measure really poorly. Average age is not a great indicator, they should be using market share of 15-24 year olds) and I think R1 bosses have realised that the only way they'll ever get the average age down low enough is to concentrate it on 13-16 yo girls. I'm a 17 yo boy ffs and whenever I listen to Nick Grimshaw, Fearne Cotton or Greg James* it feels like listening to the year sevens talk in the bus! grimmy's show in particular seems to be constructed by bosses just to meet target age with grimmy just being a mouthpeice - he wasn't bad in the evening when he had more control and the one feature he's brought with him, call or delete, is the only mildly entertaining thing on his show.

I still listen to Scott Mills and Matt edmondson on iPlayer but the music still pisses me off. And I think we all know that Scott will be off in the new year, once you've got down to the lunchtime slot there's only one way to go!! I also reckon they'll give Matt a daytime show and make him just a mouthpiece rather than him writing a good show like he does know!

I'm generally really pissed off, four or so years ago when i first started listening to R1 it was all brilliant but because of the government deciding that R1 should follow what the BBC trust says and them having draconian age policies Ben Cooper et al are having to massacre it. I genuinely don't blame the bosses i blame the modern regime of all entertainment having to be made by focus group - they never just let a DJ do his/ her thing like when Chris first got to the station.

And now Vernon's going who was proper good!

It's also the death of radio features they just want inane chat and manafactured pop music.

Grrrr I'm annoyed!

This whole policy is suicidal - I know more people of my age that choose R2 than R1 now and that's changed loads since Chris left - everyone aged 16/ 17/18 either listened to Chris or nothing.

RIP Radio 1

I know find myself listening to 5live half the time!

Grrrrr!

This is not the way to get young people to listen! Especially if they want ANYONE in their 20s to listen. Just have some genuine entertaining radio and some REAL new music not just whatever pshyco records churn out!!

GRRRR!!

* no disrespect to Greg James, when he goes off on his own bit it' quite entertaining but his show is going the way of Grimmy's and he's just a mouthpeice for R1 drivetime!

Also, it is seeming less and less likely that Chris will make a return in the new year as was once speculated. 10-1 on Saturday and Sunday will both be free soon which not that long ago would have been ideal but I honestly don't think the station is at all suitable for him any more and both Chris and R1 will now be wanting to avoid each other like the plague!

Matt Edmondson is going to do those shows. I haven't heard him much, but what I have heard I quite like. The only disappointment is that the brilliant Sara Cox is moving from the Sunday show.

That's reasonably ok news, he i quite entertaining in his Wednesday evinging slot and hopefully he'll still have a reasonable amount of control on weekends compared to if they put him on weekdays.

Also, anyone know if anything's been said about Matt's Wednesday slot? One hour every Wednesday evening of Moyles anyone? Matt's show wasn't about the music so maybe there's an opening?? I might just be being hopeful!

EDIT: Just looked and Tom Deacon has that slot which meets with my approval but is one less chance where moyles might appear!!
