Chris Dave and Aled could do huge numbers podcasting, but if they charge I don't see it succeeding.
Only Gervais, Merchant & Pilkington, to the best of my knowledge, managed to pull charging for a podcast off because they were popular world wide.

Unless it was a podcast "brought to you by castrol gtx and Ginsters Pies". That type of advertising might work.

Gervais et al did not charge for their podcasts. They charged for their eBooks.

As I've pointed out several times, there are podcasters making millions of dollars and none of them charge. Paywalls do not work. Advertising works.

I'm not so sure about that. I won't lie and will say that I only really listen to BBC podcasts (Chris Moyles show & The Infinate monkey cage) but from other podcasts that I have heard, The adverts are very much an intrusive part.

You can't fast-forward Capital FM. You can fast-forward a podcast. I never hear podcast ads. With Adam Carolla's show, I hit 2x and FF and never hear them. You soon get used to FFwding and hearing when they end.

My top 2 favourite subscribed podcasts are from either the smodcast or nerdist network. 3-6 minutes of pre podcast advertising. X2 and f.forward. Job done and no significant intrusion. What's on your podcast list?
