Ah regrets. I've had a few. But then again, far too many to even think about let alone mention....

Thats a good site Chris, £36742 or something looks like the National Average.

Given the boost a NQT brings to the budget, I think they start on low £20's, this to me bears out the previous statement on Salary.

Those statistics generally are so swayed by individual factors mind, I think a visit is the only way to decide.

In honesty, the post I referenced actually said 'tour' instead of 'your' but figured that was a typo.

And I can understand the point of if they're not teaching English it's not as bad but as Yuds said this was a primary teacher which makes it pretty sad.

There's a difference between a typo and bad spelling. People who can spell at least know when they've made a typo, even if it isn't until a bit later...

Anyway, annoying me today is the inevitable end/beginning of year analysis and evaluation of the year ahead - and as far as work is concerned, I can't find anything positive to think. I am supposed to be back there tomorrow after the break and I have never felt less motivated.

Hmm, rethink on my first thought there!

Set personal goals on something to do with personal development and training, corporate goals about efficiency, engagement, stake holders, and something about cutting down the long grass.

Ha! Knew my comment would stir up some emotion.

Teachers, in my opinion, are underpaid. This is based on dealing with the kids of today and the situation society has gotten itself into. Kids run amock these days and I for one wouldn't be a teacher for any less than a 6 figure salary AND 12 weeks holiday a year. Hence my statement. Teachers deserve every £ they get, in my opinion. The £36k mentioned would not be enough to get me dealing with the little bastards!

Plus I'm biased; mommy n daddy are teachers.

Yudster wrote: How can you possibly think it is ok?

I didn't know the exact circumstances of the errors mentioned. As you know, I struggle to spell, and if you think for one minute I'm gonna spell check forum posts, you have another thing coming - as is possibly said teachers attitude with posting on FB. I'd assume most teachers have a certain level of literacy, doesn't mean they have to be bothered enough to employ it 24/7. I wouldn't...

Erm, no. The expression is "You have another thing coming".

Must try harder Chris.

Unless you thought about something, then stopped, then something changed, and you had to re-evaluate, think you would have another "think" coming, but that is not what is used in common parlance.

Did you hear the "Viv from Aryshire" comment on Chris Evans this morning after a David Bowie track 7.40 a.m. ish.... she lives!

I vote for think.

"If you think this, then you've another think coming" (i.e. your first 'think' was incorrect)

http://www.word-detective.com/2011/12/a ... nk-coming/

29 pages of semi-informed debate on the subject: http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=87385

Also this which suggests the 'thing' people are in the minority (but perhaps no less correct): http://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?co ... g=3&share=

Well, I've never heard of, or used, that version of it before.

Chris(Toph), I stand (slightly) corrected. Sorry. Although, I've still never heard anyone use 'think' before.

What the actual *.

I've never heard that expression used. What a pile of pish.

Surely it's "If you think this... Think again"
Not "you've another think coming"

How wanky is a phrase is that?

Ach, what do I know, I've also never showered naked with a lady.

Well I never, Sorry Toph, thanks Chris.

I knew a chap once who insisted on saying it's a pain up the Arse, rather than a pain in the Arse, I always thought that was weird.

Although the article referenced which pronounced it's Ad as "Thai Dating" does seem a little less than reliable!

Maybe it's an accent thing? ie, in certain regional accents the 'k' in 'think' would be soft and so could easily be misheard as 'thing'. The way my dad says it (and I instantly hear it in his voice, eg "if you think I'm buying you that for Christmas, you've another think coming") there could be no mistaking that the word is 'think' :)

It kind of reminds me of a conversation that went on on the facebook status of a friend of mine who was debating whether to keep her hair blonde or dye it back to brown. One of her blonde friends (who I don't know) commented in support of keeping it blonde, unfortunately after making her argument she wrote "case and point!" I was SO tempted to post pointing out that the expression is in fact "case IN point", but I just didn't have the heart. Poor blondes.

Me2 Benji, having never heard of, or used 'think' until Toph and Chris came along, i'm not gonna change it now.

Haha, I had no idea this would provoke such debate... to those saying 'thing' makes more sense, I really don't see how it does - 'your first thought was wrong, think again'.

But thats a different expression, Toph. That one does make perfect sense. But I still think 'you have another thing coming' also makes sense, in its own context.
