Deadly summed up everything I would say on this topic. IF I WAS AN IDIOT

I'd rather watch top of the pops with bowie, the stones, the beatles, kiss, etc than some of the shit around today. I love some modern music, and often work dubstep into the weddings I dj at just to see how it goes down, but id much rather listen to the stones.

Just because something is old doesnt mean its rubbish (look at badger, hes ancient and still pretty cool)

Deadly said very clearly that the music from that era is some of the best ever recorded. What is is less inspired by is those same artists still thinking that they can still get away with it now. They really can't. The Stones are just embarrassing to watch these days, with Keith Richard gradually crumbling away in front of your eyes and Mick Jagger pretending to be sexy at the age of god knows what. Paul McCartney is a bloated, botoxed and Just For Men addled wreck of his former self who can hardly hold a tune any more and don't get me started on the nauseating thing that is Iggy Pop, who also used to be brilliant. I hope Bowie bucks the trend.

Was my thoughts exactly. Thought misfit was a little harsh on our Nathan this morning, but when i first read it, it was too early to be argumentative.

Nothing against these artists at all, but if you're a fan, you'll already own their best work. Why buy into the 'forced output to increase a pention fund' I'll never know.

The Stones most recent concert was just awful. It was as if zombies had learned to play instruments. I appreciate there is a demand to see them but maybe they should be honest enough to not cheat their fans out of thousands of pounds by giving what is possibly the worst live performance ever. They must know deep down that their time has passed.

I would much rather listen to the stuff they recorded when they were still awesome than watch them fail to re-create it now. That way I can still enjoy them at their best.

During a bit of 'office banter' just now in which my boss asked us if we needed the weekly team catch-up this afternoon and I responded by saying "Not really bothered" whilst yawning, she accused me of being Comedy Dave.

not really, I'd much rather go watch a band play instruments, than watch tinie tempah rap his way through a song. paul McCartney is a good musician, fair enough his voice is going, but the pyrotechnics they have on his live shows are amazing. I've never seen the stones live ( but could be doing soon http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/ ... -2013.html). just because something is old does not automatically put it in the shit pile..

Sky Broadband was my other choice if I couldn't get Virgin. Sky is one of the few remaining unlimited ADSL2+ services.

That reminds me, I must leech all the TCMS shows off archive.org. Are they all up now?
