Ruddy snow! Today will be traffic chaos, no doubt.

And yet, still no snow on the Cairngorms... Conditions up there are poopy at moment, was half planning a weekend up there at some point to 'scratch the itch', no point if no snow to slide about on!

Sun is out here. No snow yet. I hope it stays clear, but at least if it snows now it will only disrupt work and school - when this kind of thing is threatened just before Christmas and I only have a limited number of specific days to do necessary things, its a lot more anxiety-inducing.

North Hill. Colchester is built on high ground, and the only way in and out is sloping - North Hill, East Hill, Balkern Hill or Lexden Hill. My bus negotiates the gentle but three mile long slope of Lexden Hill to get me into town, but then I have to walk down the shorter yet steep North Hill to get to my office. Well, when I say walk, I mean slide, slip, fall and generally almost die in this stupid weather.

At the bottom of this hill is the River Colne, crossed by a little bridge which could easily be used to play ice hockey on today. Also, thanks to the "cold sink" effect, the temperature at the top of the hill this morning was -4 - at the bottom here it is -7.

At least it isn't snowing.

Pretty chilling for those in London though, especially as it was just an accident - I change at Vauxhall quite often.

I understand it being the main headline and it being a semi big deal. My argument is with Sky News and how they report things like this. They are going way overboard with the rolling coverage as is typical of Sky News. They have been looping the same 20 second film of a fire in the road for about an hour now.

Yeah, Sky News are going over the top : interrupting interviews with people who are downplaying it to show pictures on some bloke's ipad.

Personally, I'm amazed that the crash isn't a lot worse than it is, considering the area it went down in. Could have easily landed on the train line for instance.

My knees are cold. There's a draught from the front door - which people INSIST on opening in order to gain access to the office - which goes right under my desk and my knees are freezing.

Also it does look as though we might get some significant snow over the next 36 hours. Poo.
