Oh, is it an afternoon one? That'd be why I've never heard of it I guess. I never watch any gameshows really though...they exhaust me. I only just figured out the rules of Deal Or No Deal. Still Deadly, be sure to let us know if you're on and I will sky+ it up :)

I haven't seen The Chase but loads of people say its really good, so I have to assume it has a bit of something more than most daytime quiz shows. Let us know when you are on if it works out Deadly, I will Sky+ too.

Well, Colchester officially, but that's just on existing records. Doesn't mean it IS the oldest town. The historical significance of the place is what I really love about it though. I could walk fifty yards up the hill here, go into a shop, down into their basement and see surviving remains of a building which Boadicea destroyed when she burned the Roman city to the ground, destroying the Temple of Claudius and the whole of the Roman capital of northern Europe in AD60 (yes, they bounced back). I can wander up the High Street and visit the remains of the Temple itself, and see broken carvings and statues which she actually smashed herself. And that was only the start of Roman Colchester, some of the archaeology that is going on here is the most significant there is of that period. Recently there has been an excavation of the only Chariot Racing track in Britain. Parts of the Roman garrison have been excavated, and artefacts have revealed more about the way the Roman invasion force lived than any other finds anywhere. Interestingly, the garrison in Colchester now is in almost exactly the same place as it was then.

I love history.

I knew someone would. You were on the list of possibles.

I could go on for hours about this kind of crap though. Not just about Colchester, but about the whole of Britain. I just love it all.

All joking to one side, it does sound interesting. Was unaware of the 'istory of the place.

Worcester is a pretty interesting place too - but best not get started. And I quite like Cher Lloyd, she's made some good pop records...

Preston has Nick Park. And the dude who was inside R2D2. And Mark Lawrenson but the less said about that the better.

Also: tattoo time today! Yay. Seems like forever ago that I made this appointment.

So Colchester has Boadicea. Well she visited briefly, trashed the place then left. Thus starting a tradition which endures to this day.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star was written in Colchester by Jane Taylor in the early 19th century and published by her sister Ann in 1806 - their house is still here, there's a plaque on it.

There's a house in Colchester which is now a restaurant, which was built in the late 15th century, and was central in the Siege od Colchester, which was a pivotal battle in the war between the Royalists and Parliamentarians in the reign of Charles 1st. You can still see the holes in the external timber beams made by the musket balls from the battle - some of the musket balls are still in there too.

We also have Olly Murrs and Matt Cardle. Woot.

Ah Worcester really does have some good history actually! Even I know little bits about it!

I always thought Mozart wrote Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?

I live right on one of the oldest roads in Britain, the old Roman road Watling Street. Also an Eleanor Cross was placed at Stony Stratford, which is a lovely town a couple of miles down the road from me, by Edward I when his wife Eleanor died and the funeral procession stopped overnight there. It was destroyed long ago though and there's no trace of it now - the exact whereabouts aren't even known.

And of course from more recent history, we have Bletchley Park, Bletchley's single (yet hugely impressive) redeeming feature.

I love history now - hated it at school, wish I'd paid more attention.

Couldn't agree more Mr T, history was of zero interrest in my younger years, how things change, eh?

I didn't even take it at GCSE - took religious studies. Which was interesting, but I too agree that I wish I'd learned more about history back then. I did kiss my history teacher, though.

I didn't either, I was on about prior to GCSE years - I took Geography, Humanities was my worst category, it was the lesser of the evils... but definitely wish I'd taken history.
