No I just didn't understand Misfit's post. I wanted to hear more and show I was intrigued.

That wasn't to you it was to Misfit. I think you must have posted your comment whilst I was in the process of typing mine.

You got some beef with my Essex education?

No, just with people who can't type proper English. Where you were educated has no bearing on that, in my experience.

thatis justsilly, don't let it worry you Nicola. If that bothers you, just think about the people who are too stupid to even get onto the internet!

Init blood :P

In all seriousness I use Google Chrome and even that underlined "abit" and I still ignored it because I consider it ok :)

See, when I read something like the above - which in effect is saying "I know its wrong, and it would be easy to correct, but I can't be bothered because I think its ok" it really annoys me and I start getting all Yudster about it. But to be honest, why should it bother me? Why should I care what other people do?

I must be tired.

You're very, very wrong though. It's not ok.

There are many better things to be worried about than the spelling and grammar of others. It's irritating at times to see blatant spelling errors/text speak but then in the time it's taken for you to read the post and complain about it about a hundred kids have died around the world from starvation or illness.

Yes and over £1,000,000 been won on the scratch cards in the UK.

I thought Nick was being a bit Rickie too!

Bold word changed as Spoll Chock said they were wrong and I thought I better try and correct them from Nic and Pickie..... :D

But you could view it as being helpful. A foreign lady I know uses the word 'shower' instead of 'shout'. You understand what she means from the context, but is it not right to correct her?

Perhaps whomever it was above didn't know "abit" was incorrect. Perhaps they were abit stupid, perhaps they were abit lazy, or perhaps they were just abit mistaken. On reflection, perhaps I don't really care.

That's very true. But what can I do about that? I'm sat at work and idly reading the board. It's in the rules to use proper English and whilst I let a lot of spelling/grammar/typo errors go because I just don't care that much, I do also sometimes point them out - that's just how I am. In the context of the board, sitting here worrying about starving children rather than posting about bad grammar is a pointless exercise.

There are children dying of poverty in this country too. More than you realise. Blimey I'm depressed today.

I was referring to every day life regarding worrying about spelling errors. My comment was a general one, not one aimed at you.

Is it women's week or something? Jeez.

I know you were. And my reply was a general one - what I said applies to us all, not just me. And no it is not.

Really? You can't care about one thing because something completely unrelated is happening elsewhere?

People not caring enough to use their own language correctly bothers me.
