The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Hey all.
So, I haven't been around at all much since September, I've been a busy guy. But I thought I'd stop in today, with it nearly being six months since the last show, March 14th, 2013 officially.

Thought I'd better ask the important questions, how did you cope? And what do you listen to in the morning now?
Me, I'm coping better than I expected. And now I only listen to two podcasts, The News Quiz from BBC Radio 4 Friday Night Comedy, and Rhod Gilbert's Best Bits from BBC Radio Wales. :3

Not well really.

I generally hate commercial radio stations, I want to be entertained, not sold stuff. I actually feel quite bitter and cheated by the fact that the BBC doesn't really want to know people of my age group in its mainstream channels & programming. What's worse is that my wife still insists on listening to Radio 1 in an act of defiance, I think she actually quite likes Grim Nickshaw too which winds me up even more.

However, with the arrival of a car with a DAB radio a few weeks ago, I've been able to follow Chris' advice - and I now listen to Shaun Keaveny. Great music and superb humour.

I still often have pangs of 'I wish the show was still on', but y'know, what can ya do. I listen to Nick Grimshaw while I'm getting ready for work, cos I haven't found any tolerable alternative, then archive Moyles on my mp3 player once I'm out and about. My commute is about an hour so an edited show lasts me two mornings. I did also download all Russell Brand's old Radio 2 podcasts, but haven't needed to crack into them yet.

I'm coping fine with the breakfast show ending. Id have liked Radio 1 to give Chris the respect he deserved by letting him see out ten years but they had other ideas. The thing I don't like us the fact he isn't on another station or even hinted at doing more radio at some point. The complete silence regarding the Comedy Dave and tax issues annoys me too. I don't like it when celebrities hide from issues that need to be addressed.

Very much agreed. As time goes on it looks less and less likely that we'll hear him back on radio and that's so disappointing. He was so proud of the way he'd worked his way up from the bottom and honed his craft - I can't believe how ready he seems to turn his back on all that. Obviously none of us know his long-term plans, but still, it just seems like a travesty for him not to be doing radio in some capacity.

I don't think im coping great. Mornings just aren't the same and as I mentioned on twitter last week I've lost touch with modern music. I have a collection of all the number ones on my computer so therefore have to download new ones every week. For the first time in ages there have now been 2 number ones in a row that at the time of them reaching number one I had never heard. I really miss Chris. There is really no replacement for the entertainment he provided me with in the mornings.

I'm coping fine actually. To start with I wasn't. I listened to Grimmy during his first week and thought it was the worst pile of crap I've ever heard on the radio. I then discovered that chrismoyles.net was doing the replay and because I started listening to the show in 2006 all of the older shows are all new material to me. So basically I just listen to those and a few other comedy podcasts, such as Rhod Gilbert's Best Bits, The Matt Edmondson Show etc. I hardly listen to the proper radio anymore.

I am coping but only because of the replay shows. I'll listen to my local station at a certain tjme(I like the quiz) but its vintage moyles for me. Tho, the irony is, if I stop to think about it I get miserable that it's ended. Agree with the above about not knowing the Dave situation as listening to the old stuff highlights how close they were.

I'm dealing with the show's absence well but only because of the replays. I do miss the live shows and I'm not happy that there is no indication Chris and the other members are ever going to be back on the radio again any time soon.

On the plus side, their absence forced me to explore other BBC radio programming. I found Mayo's show on R2 which I like quite a lot mostly because he also has a team that he talks with during the show on air. It also helps that I can listen to it live in the middle of my day. Not crazy about the music, but then I rarely liked the music I heard on Chris's show.

When does Chris' contract finish? Could it be that he's effectively on Gardening Leave until that contract is over and he can't work for another radio station for now?

I listen to Hirsty's Daily Dose on Capital Yorkshire and switch to the Moyles Rewind podcast when I leave the house.

His contract expires in the new year of 2014 I believe.

I agree with that. It is very sad that someone who only ever wanted to be a radio DJ is now seemingly ambivalent towards it. That said, I don't really want him back on the radio until it is something he truly wants to do. His lack of enthusiasm for radio was clear for a while before he left Radio 1 and I don't want more of the same should he return with a half-arsed attitude.

For that reason, I am 'coping' well with him not being on air. I do miss the great Moyles shows when it was really at its peak, but I listen to those shows virtually every day thanks to the archive here. When on my way to work I listen to the Capital, Birmingham breakfast show which I think is pretty good. Other than that, I listen to the Moyles archive or Radio 1.

I've not really listened to any other radio full stop, I used to specifically listen to Chris on the iPlayer because it was just 3.5 hours of solid entertainment per day.

My personal view is that there's some agreement between Chris & Radio1 that he'll keep off the radio until Grimmy has had some time to settle in and then he'll be back in some way. I'm guessing the last thing radio1 wanted was for Chris to move to another station or offer another radio show in some way and basically offer an immediate alternative to radio1. Plus I guess Chris might want a rest, he'd been doing early mornings for a long long time, so I reckon he's having a bit of an extended holiday from the radio until r1 release him from his contract at that point I expect we'll start hearing from him.

And I don't think that'll be in 2014, or whenever his contract officially expires, I'm guessing it'll be sometime this year.

I'm addicted to Moyles, I need a show a day and usually listening to more. I download the daily show right after they are posted - 4pm out in California - then listen to it first thing in the morning, just like when the show was still done. I started listening in 2006 or early 2007, so all of this is new to me. I have also been working my way up from the very first archive of his shows when he started on Radio 1. I am up to July 2001. Interesting to hear Dominic read news before he was on Chris' show. So I need some Moyles each day. I am going out of town for a week at the end of the month and will download shows in advance.

I am not listening to any live radio. I download the Scott Mills Daily, Matt Edmondson, Rhod Gilbert and the Ten Minute Podcasts. I have no idea who is number 1 now and probably fallen way behind on what's hot and what's not.

At first I had a bit of a break from listening to the show - no old podcasts or shows, etc. It felt like when the team went on holiday from it, but only this time they didn't come back.
More recently I have started listening to old shows again, and I realize that there is nothing else to fill that time in my life - I listen when I'm working, doing stuff at home, etc.
So I hope that Chris will return to the air sometime soon. Until then I will keep plodding on with the old shows - I hope I don't run out! (I've probably got another 7.5 years left till I do run out, so I hope Chris is back on by then 8O ).

No. The clique are still crying into their show repeats (Jul 2007 now?), googling for Chris Moyles news, reading for 'sneaky insights' on his twitter, debating whether or not to jump ship to radio 2 (answer's yes, generally more intelligent presenters, and better music if you're not 13, or 6music is good for the likes of G.Peterson). I believe 1 or 2 have contemplated ending their lives, and a good few are praying that something bad happens to Evans/Wright/Mayo. Meanwhile, some of the kids here are still pretending that they're funny or have a social life.

I work at nights so it was always great to hear the first hour odd of the show live when I finished my shift and went home and listened to the podcasts back then also during the night sometimes. I don't listen to the radio at all nowadays especially when some of the shows I enjoyed like The Late Show with Colin Murray on Radio Ulster have gone away. Wasn't fussed on Grimshaw from what I heard and none of the R1 staff for the most part appeal to my tastes.

I listen to a lot of the archive shows during the nights nowadays and some of them are a lot better than what was done in the last year of the show and can easily listen to some of those funny moments again. Currentlly at the end of May 2006 with the whole X Factor: Battle of the Stars stint (anyone remember that?) and it is quite entertaining to hear some of the things discussed about that show.

I wish we could get some sort of indication as to what his plans are for the future because apart from JCS, there hasn't been much from him these past few months and I have stopped following the team on twitter because it just isn't the same anymore.

Am I in "the clique"? I would guess probably yes - and I haven't listened to any old shows and I'm not slitting my wrists about Chris's current career non-choices either. I enjoyed the show while it was on, now it isn't I still pop in here to keep up with a few people I met or "met" along the way.

I listened to Radio 2 a fair bit before Chris went, that hasn't really changed either.

Just to keep you up to date ChrisBoyles.
