Not really. I understand the point of it - women's issues do need discussing and recognising - but it doesn't really mean anything to me personally. I told Mr Red he should probably buy me a present for being, like, quite good at being a woman and stuff. He argued that in fact I should buy him one for being a feminist man. Hmm.

Ah, are we back on the 'finger test' again?

Had a telephone interview this morning for a company near Nottingham. Really undecided about whether I actually want it. Even just to get to an interview it will cost me over £70 and then I'm still not sure i wanna move away from Bristol. I currently don't have any better offers though so I think I'll have to carry on the process for it and see what happens. I have 2 interviews for 2 companies in Swindon in the next couple of weeks which would be ideal as I would commute to that every day and I also had an interview with a firm in Bristol but they have never done placements before so it's a bit of a risk for me and the last I heard of them was last Friday when they asked what my expected salary was.

Ask Deadly.

Nottingham is ok mate (got a Hooters), but I could see why you may not wanna move up there. And £70 is a lot for a return trip jus' for an interview. But, equally, any interview is good life experience.

Either way, all the best.

+1.

Once spent over £100 getting to an interview due to my own incompetence.
Best money I ever spent.

Nothing whatsoever.

If you can afford it, you should go to the interview. It might be the perfect placement for you and you won't know that unles you go. If you can't afford it though, that is a good reason not to go as you do have more local options still.

Basically, if you can go, then go. The time to decide that you don't want it is after they have offered it, not before you've even talked to them face to face.

I think it's good there's a day where achievements made by women and the progress for women in society is recognised. However the fact we have to have a day in order to recognise these things rather than it being the norm.

Good to see the women can use their various Internet devices with washing up gloves on.

(That's a joke before I get a sexism rant)

My annoyance today is with myself. I completely mid understood the brief for my last Uni assignment so got a very poor mark and I have no one to blame but myself, worse still any resort I take is capped at 40%. Bugger

I celebrated International Women's Day by having possibly the worst PMT I've ever had, resulting in a rather disastrous day and lousy weekend containing little sleep. Hurrah!

Ugh. I recently started taking vitamin D supplements for my swollen gums and discovered accidentally that they've improved my PMT considerably. A shame the doctor didn't suggest it when I went, instead she told me to take agnus castus, not bothering to mention that it's known to cause indigestion (which my notes would indicate I'm already very prone to). Hmph.

That sucks, but it's good you found it. I use a Boots concoction (Evening Primrose Oil + multivitamins) these days. To be honest what I had wasn't "normal" PMT, it was those symptoms brought on (I assume) by me skipping the break on my birth control, which I only did in the first place to delay my hideous period pains (previously due to arrive at the worst possible time), which I still get on every pill I try. Usually PMT isn't the bad part for me, but I had a "nice" insight on this occasion. And there I was, thinking I'd got away with beating nature and actually stopping it from interfering with my work and social life - how very dare I! Happy Women's Day! :-P

In completely unrelated news, I gave up chocolate for Lent and would almost certainly kill for it right now...

One thing the doctor did say to me is that PMT gets worse in your 30s/40s - nobody bothered to tell me that before! A lovely treat in store there for you.

Why is this cold weather back. It's all over the place so far this year, first it's cold then it's warm for a couple of days then it's cold again. Jeepers.

Well. Even though i've just been mentioning my £60 outlay on new badminton equipment - within 2 hours I'm wishing I hadn't bothered!

Just been given 3 weeks notice at my current employers - workload is shite (I knew that) and staff have gotta go.

Feck.

Well - you don't usually have too much difficulty in dredging up a new contract when you need one, so hopefully this will be the same. And maybe the next one will be a bit more travel-friendly, and possibly help to alleviate some other issues too - you never know, this might be a good thing in the long run. Hope so.

Thank you for the words of encouragement, very nice of you.

Was a bit stunned yesterday, as following a resource meeting last week I'd thought I was safe until at least autumn, but hey-ho. Its nothing I've done wrong, so can't be too low about it, its the 'other' side to being a contractor.

I've had a bit of a browse and there is a fair ammount of work about doing what I do (although, as before, mostly down London way), so firstly need to update and tart up the CV and then we'll see. As Yuds says, you never know, I could end up nearer to home. At least, I hope so anyway. We'll see.

London would be quite a bit nearer to home would it not? Don't you live a few miles from where I work? Good luck sir.
