I'm opposite to Nic in that I have never watched DOI and had no idea of his involvement - but I remember him on Grandstand and Match of the Day from back in the seventies. He even commentated on squash!

Princess Lilian of Sweden has died at 97. If you don't know her story, it's well worth a read as it's quite the heart warmer. Oh no.

It was an homage to the deceased and were his microphone working properly, would have read...

I watched an alarming amount of Are You Being Served when I was younger - pretty sure that every Pussy joke passed me by. He was also the last surviving member of the original cast. Very sad stuff, great sitcom actors of the '70s are diminishing quickly.

Not quite - Nicholas Smith, who played Mr Rumbold, is still with us.

I fear Peter Sallis will be next to go and that'll be terrible (he's 92 now). I did watch the last few episodes of LOTSW and I noticed that him and Frank Thornton were only ever filmed sitting down and were green-screened into location shots cos they were both so elderly and frail. Who but him can be Wallace?

I watched them all, it was a brilliant show, filmed in holmfirth, half an hours drive from me ha. They introduced the Chinese character with the red pick up to get them around as they could no longer walk everywhere, and more and more stories focused on the younger characters. I miss watching that.
