Completely agreed. I'm sure many of us have claimed benefits at some point in our lives - I certainly have (and in fact was investigated because they suspected me of cheating - that was fun!) Thankfully at least one person has twitpic'd the cover so it's possible to share it without having to give them pageviews. I made a resolve last year to stop clicking on Daily Mail links altogether, and I feel better for it.

"I'm sorry to hear to have to cancel your flight due to medical reasons sir."

"I'm sorry, the ticket is non-refundable."

"No. I'm sorry, any monies lost are only claimable through your insurance provider."

"No sir. You didn't take insurance out at the time of booking."

"Again, sorry, but no sir. You can not take out travel insurance after you have a medical incident in the hope to claim from it. I can sell you insurance but any claim you try and make relating to your medical condition would be rejected by the insurer."

"No sir, I'm not legally obligated to sell you insurance."

"Sir, I'm sorry to hear you are considering legal action against my company but can assure we have only acted in your best interest throughout the course of your reservation."

"Now sir, you're waving the word legalities around here as if you are in full understanding of them and those pertaining to air travel."

"I'm sorry, I'm going to have to finish this conversation as it seems you are trying to rail road me into to saying something I or my company may regret in the future."

"If you wish to take this matter further I suggest you put in writing and send it to our office."

Ah, I empathise Badger. I've had many similar conversations about ticket bookings, including being accused of being a thief. Fun times.

Iain Duncan Smith was on benefits. Twice. Now he is sponging off his rich wife (while apparently also being gay) and getting paid as an MP and claiming food expenses of £400 a month.
He says he could live off £53 a week, but then refuses to take up the challenge.
He's a product of the welfare state, but also happens to be a huge *.

I need my birth certificate for something and I cannot find it ANYWHERE. I could only think of two potential places I'd have put it and it isn't in either of those. What on earth have I done with it? ARGH.

If you need to get a new birth certificate make sure you get the "full" one, the short version isn't accepted for very much any more.

Yeah, I found the short one - but I know I have the full one somewhere. Actually it's for a disabled parking badge, but I probably will need it for my passport too, so if I can't locate it I'll be very annoyed. I found about a million copies of my GCSE, A level and degree certificates - but it isn't with those. Grr.

Cheers for the empathy Nic. Customers can be right * nuggets can't they?

Never been accused of being a thief. Having an aggressive manner, yes. Thief? No.

Not nice I can imagine.

I've had all the accusations under the sun. I'm sure people think it's socially acceptable to be reprehensible arseholes in bookies. The customer is always right? That statement is definitively and categorically wrong in my line of work.

The point of "the customer is always right" isn't that they are always right, its that if you are in a position of providing a service for that customer, its your job to deal with him according to the policies of your employment, even if said customer is a *. That means being nice to people who are being * to you, and that you would rather behead. And its also why good people in direct customer interface roles can never be paid enough.

Hey people. Sorry not been about this week, been a funny old week at work (my last one 'up north'), with both bad, but equally some very good points. I've had quite a few comments from others saying how much they are gonna miss me, which is always flattering, from people I would never have expected it from!

Not looking forward to tomorrow... :(

CV is all tarted up and looking good. So far, only sent it out to two places very local to me. Will give them time to respond before I throw the net wider (IE London).

On the plus side, although next week I shall be at home mainly catching up with jobs round house, I've jumped on this opportunity to book a week away for me n Mrs DTJ the following week. Obviously, being a contractor one of the biggest considerations of booking time off is the impact of a weeks lost earnings, but thats not a problem as of next week, so figured perfect time to do so. Booked a lovely 5* place in Portugese (Sp?) Algarve which had a special offer on - Mrs DTJ is well excited (me less so 'cos it doesn't involve motorbikes :) , but hey-ho!).

Well, I potentially had some good news on that last night. The place i used to work in Leicester (where my mate works) have someone retiring start of the summer. they might be in a position to offer me a signed 'letter of intent' giving me a comfirmed start date June/July. Meaning I'd now only be looking for work to keep me out of trouble for a month or two, hence opening up the avenue of looking at short term stuff in London, if it's only short term I could commit to something down there again. Or maybe just try to sourse myself a Private Job or two to keep the wolves from the door. We'll see. Some potential good news though.

Will keep y'all informed.

On Friday evening one of my colleagues sent an email round - to our personal emails, not our work accounts - asking if anyone else was feeling the current low morale and complaining about various things that are happening here at the moment. Most of us replied agreeing, which was fine, but I've come in this morning and there's a horrible atmosphere in the office. I dunno whether everyone's just tired, but I feel like maybe someone has got wind of all the complaints that are flying around. It's kind of weird.

Never put anything like that in writing, even on a personal email or social network account. Its just not worth it.

Iv said this before and I'm saying it again now, can we please do something to give this forum a boost beside talking about old people that have died and whats pissing us off and cheering is up, I really enjoyed coming on here but nowadays you get slapped down for posting An opinion across if you're younger than 20 (see my post in the dave and dom thread), people coming here with the sole purpose of winding others up and stuff and the general part of the forum has mostly died a death.
What ever it is, team moyles, Toby lerone, even a competetiton to design a new forum layout for Chris (not that it needs it it's just an idea) lets do it and get this forum back on track for heavens sake.

I'm sorry for the blunt post but iv tried to put it nicely befor and no one has paid a blind bit of notice.

If you're offended by this tough as iv made some pretty blatant references

Don't like it then delete your account and post somewhere else. There are forums out there more suitable for 15 year olds like yourself.
