The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Have a listen to the Yorkshire version of Capital Breakfast - Hirsty's Daily Dose. Endorsed by Moyles himself! The style is similar to Moyles, but then he and Hirsty worked together early in their careers. https://soundcloud.com/hirstycapital/hi ... -chuffing/ is their latest podcast.

In other news, Dave has a new job

"I'm delighted to announce that as of the 15th April, I shall be taking up my new position as 'Talent Consultant' for Cancer Research UK."

All those years running Dave Vitty Management pay off.

What does a "Talent Consultant" do for a medical research charity?

In Dave's case it probably involves being sat at a desk with a briefcase in front of you that contains an old apple and a 2 week old Daily Mirror newspaper and wondering where it all went wrong.

Most likely he'll be developing relationships with influencers (celebs) and contributors as well as creating new ones/networking - for the reason of raising awareness and gathering potential content for future/current campaigns.

Is it just me, or does that sound like a job that calls for an open minded, pleasant natured, gregarious, sociable people-person? The kind of person who can be persuasive without being pushy, who can show enthusiasm in a way that makes it infectious and make people want to jump on board with a great cause?

Are we talking about the same David Vitty?

Wow, not a lot of Dave fans around these parts! I heard him mention this when on Richard Bacon's show today and thought good on him. It's something completely new for him to try, and it's a steady job. He said he'll still be popping in for the Moan-In when asked, so he's obviously planning to keep a bit of a foothold in the world of radio too.

why does everyone always assume dave is a miserable old fart?

I think entirely the opposite.

I think there are several instances of him being moody and aloof with fans of the show down the years. I'm not an expert on him but I remember seeing a few stories that back up the theory of being miserable. With the show ending and his friendship with Chris also breaking down I suppose you can add "bitter" to the other adjectives used to describe him.

Best of luck to Dave. But, like others here, I find it an odd fit for Dave. It does sound like he'd be coordinating celebrity/charity events for Cancer Research UK. Does he have some personal connection with advocating for cancer research? I wasn't a listener when his dad died. Was that cancer-related?

Yes, I think his dad died from bowel cancer. Dave also tweeted this earlier.

'Having lost my father to cancer 11 years ago, it's a charity that's always been close to my heart, and I'm excited to be part of a new team.'

I think he is a miserable old fart because of all the times he has appeared to me to be a miserable old fart.

Whilst on the face of it it seems to me (an onlooker with the most superficial frame of reference imaginable) a strange appointment, of course it isn't - Cancer Research UK have always been an extremely professional organisation and they wouldn't make such an appointment for the wrong reasons. I'm sure they have absolute faith in Dave to do a good job for them, and I don't doubt that he will repay that faith.

None of which is as much fun as feigning surprise at a miserable old fart being given a customer interface/PR based job.

Anybody been listening to Capital? Doms doing a bit more than just news sport and travel, he was involved in a spoof news report yesterday which was mildly amusing.

Hopefully they start to involve him more because he's a million times better than that mockney moron Dave Berry.

Nope, I listened for about half an hour on the first show with Dom on and had to switch off, it was awful.

I think the * living in the corner of the studio did better out of the show ending than Dave did. What's more I think Dave thinks that too.

Guess he'll be taking advantage of all those big Hollywood A-listers that he met doing interviews for the CM show. Maybe he'll have a story about his good friend Bruce Willis!

Won't be long now before Dave runs out of money and we get the full story on the breakdown of the relationship between Dave and Chris. Dave can moan about it on Piers Morgan's life stories.

I doubt he is a big enough name to get on that show. Maybe he'll get a middle page spread in the Sunday Sport newspaper.

Did Dave ever give you the impression that he liked or respected any of the rest of the team, or anyone else come to that?

Chris (at least up until the very end of the show) and Dom come to mind. The others - not so much.

I remember watching a video of Tina singing a song in the studio (Beautiful Day by U2 maybe?) and the look Dave gives her during the entire song took me aback.

Maybe there's something to it that he didn't really liked or respected anyone apart from Dom and Chris.
