Yeah, I guess I have. If you'd told me a year ago that I'd want to marry someone after only a few months together I'd have laughed at you...but there we go.

They can force you to work your notice period, and also charge you for any costs that they may have incurred which are specific to you during preparation for your employment (uniforms, phone contracts etc.) depending on the role - and it also qualifies as a breach of contract.

Also, be warned that if you cancel on a graduate position with merely months/weeks to go - if an agency helped you find your job, they will lose their completion fee for you (but keep their placement fee) and will blacklist you from their system.

Similarly, the company you're applying to will have to find a graduate to hire with very little notice - which means the pool of quality will be much smaller, and your replacement will likely be a few weeks behind as a typical hire time for graduates is around 3 weeks from interview to offer. This will be a great inconvenience to them, and they won't forget it (it will stay in their internal system).

If you have 2 signed contracts whose periods of work coincide with each other without an employer's permission it can be grounds for termination.

In an insular world like accountancy, you'd do well to avoid anything like that. ICAEW members would get fined if they were to be involved in such unethical practices, and a complaint was made against them.

Basically, think before you sign. This is all worst case scenario though.

I am sitting here with full beard and mustache on the right side of my face and clean shaven on the left side. I'm going out to see a group of friends later and running a couple errands and thought I'd get a rise out of them. I will shave the rest of the beard off later today.

I think I will take pleasure in telling her what I think of her magazine soliciting images of 13 year old girls on the internet and more generally their celebrity tittle tattle and bullshit agenda.

Baby Yudster has led his East Region Under 11 squash team to victory in the England Regional Squash Championships this weekend. They all played out of their skins yesterday to get us unexpectedly into the final, and today beat the odds-on favourites 3 - 1 to win the title. Great bunch of kids.

Congratulations Yudster. You and Mister Yuds must have some dominant squash genes passed down to Baby Yudster.

Ha - the only really significant thing we have given him is the opportunity to develop whatever potential he has. Neither of us really had that as kids. At least Mr Yudster got to play sport, even if he wasn't particularly encouraged to work at it. I had early promise at a few things, tennis, running and mostly hockey - but I was actively discouraged from pursuing any of them even slightly seriously. There must be millions of people who could have been great at something if they'd been encouraged and enabled to try - we're just giving him the chance to try.

But thank you! Proud mum.

Booked my car in this morning for its 10,000 mile service. Half an hour later, the garage calls me back saying "er - the Kia Cee'd needs servicing every 20k miles, not 10k - and also your 20k mile service was done when you bought the car - come back when you get to 22,517 miles!" Result!

That's good, I remember a couple of weeks ago you were worried that all the new staff would mean that you would only get a few hours a week!

Ask them to open a branch in Milton Keynes?

Ah, my mistake, I thought she was on about an independent garage!

Well, an independent garage would have to provide the servicing schedule set by the manufacturer to stay within the requirements for the warranty. I was just happy they called me to point out my mistake, they could just as easily have taken £300 off me for no good reason and I'd have been none the wiser.
