I know! Gutted. I saw him live on stage in the History Boys at the National Theatre in 2005 - such an amazing actor.

Oh no! That is really sad. He was great in the Harry Potter films and his role in the Adam Sandler film Bedtime Stories was great too. RIP.

Muppets designer Jane Henson has died of cancer aged 78. I'm a huge Muppets/Henson Creatures fan - big oh no.

Film critic Roger Ebert died earlier today. He was 70. I'd imagine Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo might have something to say about this when they return next week.

So sad. He was such a great writer and I almost always agree with his assessments of movies, so he was always my first choice for a review when I wanted to figure out what to see.
I bought one of his books. I tried following him on The Tweeter, but he was too prolific for me.

RIP Roger, you are no longer Awake in the Dark. :(

His recent memoir, Life Itself: A Memoir, was pretty good. Definitely an interesting person.

It's bad that you seem to want to celebrate her death without knowing, yes.

Margaret Thatcher was a great leader and a truly excellent Primeminister. Anyone celebrating her death should be hung.

I didn't take Ben's post to be celebratory, it could just as easily have been surprise or even sadness.

This. Responsible for the ills of millions of people, much of whose awful work is being continued by this government today. Alright my celebratory post was supposed to get a reaction, but I genuinely can't be sad about it whatsoever. She was a horrible, horrible woman.

Closed my * school down when I was a kid as well, caused the early formation of my political beliefs.

Oh, and she deregulated the banking industry as well, look where that's got us.

Ben on Twitter an hour ago:

Ben here 30 mins ago:

It could be that the 'Finally!' could be an expression of happiness that she's at rest - but given that he doesn't know much about her, I doubt it!

She was polorising I'll give you that but the lack of respect she has received from the members here is disgusting. I'd say a lot of the dislike from some of you stems from her being a woman in power. She was a strong woman who at the very least doesn't deserve this sort of reaction to her death.
