Lolz.

It is absolute fact. The only "damage" she did is to the working classes who wanted to strike instead of work. Industries that were not making anywhere near enough to start demanding pay rises tried to take her on and failed miserably.

Your response shows your clear lack of knowledge on the subject matter. If she had given in to the Unions you'd be writing about how she was weak and pissed all the money up the wall. You can't have it both ways. The people who went on strike and the people who bitched and moaned deserved everything they got.

Yes because the working classes were/are all feckless card carrying union members.

Oh wait supporting Pinochet, the Khmer Rouge, Suharto etc. might be why.

Missing a couple of Saint Maggie's best quotes,

'Children who need to be taught to respect traditional values are being taught that they have an inalienable right to be gay' -

On Suharto,

"One of our very best and most valuable friends"

Im not defending everything she has done or said. My argument is that all the good she did is forgotten about and that is it disrespecful to celebrate her death.

You can pull out quotes from any world leader or long standing political figure that are embarassing.

Much better than the decision he made last year when he binned off that fantastic DJ who used to be on in the mornings.

The BBC trust binned Moyles. Ben Cooper's hands were tied sadly on that issue. He and Chris have been friends for years, he wouldn't remove him from the air off his own back.

Still he is a smug arse.

Oh right, I just assumed it was him as he's the controller of radio 1, I thought he was in charge of everything, well damn the BBC trust.

Ultimately yes he is in full control but if you manage a branch of Tesco you'll still have head office to answer to. BBC trust are the equivilant of a head office.

Surely this whole debate boils down to which political party you support and therefore no one is ever going to agree?

Early you said Thatcher did no damage besides the necessary against the feckless working class (as you seem to view them). So that's a bit beyond just pointing out all the good she did in your view.

There is a difference between a few embarrassing quotes or John Gummer style photo ops and the sort of suffering Thatcher through those quotes and her actions is responsible for. Taking those two quotes,

What do you think Section 28 did for young people growing up gay/bi etc. under Thatcher. Of course that is impossible to quantify exactly.

Equally difficult to get an exact number is how many Suharto's death squads murdered but it's certainly in the thousands during Maggie's term in office,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrus_Killings

That's before we look at the rest of her borderline sociopathic domestic policies.

On a lighter note Glenda Jackson jogged my memory about having to cover our aging school text books with wallpaper etc. Yep things were grand growing up under the Tories even down here in true blue Dorset.

Correct. But it's difficult to go to sleep when someone on the Internet is wrong.
