Did anyone watch Better Off Ted? It had two series in 2009/10 and was then cancelled, but I really liked it. I only know one person who likes it independently of me!

Watched the 1st two episodes of the new sci-fi show Defiance (shown here on the SyFy cable channel). The show definitely has potential. I'll keep watching for a few more episodes to see where it goes.

Tried starting Parks & Rec but I just couldn't get into it. I think the fact that most of the comedy derives from all the other characters secretly laughing at the Amy Poehler character's attitude and enthusiasm for her job, and the audience being invited to laugh at that too, just makes me feel uncomfortable for her. I do realise it's fictional, but I still have trouble with that kind of comedy.

I don't like it either - I've never heard of that show but I think i would probably have a similar response to it.

I've only seen clips of Ron Swanson from the show, I think he's quite good. Will have to watch an episode to get a good idea of what the show is like.

The next sitcom I want to try is Community, but alas it doesn't seem to be on Netflix.

Has anyone been watching Britain's Got Talent this year? I think it's been really good so far.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
I've been watching Living loads since I got my new flat and this always seems to be on. I really dig it, mainly because I like crime-solving dramas.

Also, whilst thinking of TV and scantily clad/naked actresses, Laura Pulver in the Da Vinci Chronicles makes a very average show watchable.

Does anyone here watch, and actually enjoy, Made In Chelsea? In fairness, my judgment on it has been molded solely by the adverts I've seen for it, but I just cannot get my head round how anyone could possibly enjoy it.

I've never seen it - I don't really watch any of those 'constructed reality' shows. I spent a long time trying to figure out exactly what it was about reality TV I don't like and I think it's the fact that it doesn't engage the viewer in any way - you're just sitting staring at other people's lives, a bit like a zoo. I understand that that appeals to some people but not to me.

Anyway - I just watched the United States of Television: America in Primetime documentaries and they were SO GOOD. Really well made and thought-provoking. I think they might all still be on the iplayer - highly recommended if so.

How weird is that? Just yesterday I thought "I think I will start watching Buffy from the beginning again, I can't remember how it started".

I ran across this story:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latest ... black.html

The tv show Orphan Black has been picked up by BBC 3. I've been watching this show on BBC America and I can highly recommend it. It's currently one of my favorite shows. The lead actress plays 6 different characters (they're supposed to be clones) and she does a fantastic job with that task. Worth checking out IMO.

I've seen a show called 'Coppers' up for pre-order over here in Blighty Badger Mark. Have you seen it? What's it about?

I've not see Coppers, but it's a period police procedural (late 1800's New York I think). BBCA's first original content. Police procedurals are generally not my cup of tea, but I've heard good things about it. As you may have figured out from my tv/film posts I'm more of a sci-fi fan generally speaking.

She is very good. However, her * accent is pretty bad (Hello, Mary Poppins!).

An actress who really pulled it off is Australian actress Melissa George, who switched effortlessly from British to American accents in "Hunted".

I'm glad you brought the accent question up. I was curious about the authenticity of it. It sounded a bit generic even to this American's ears. I know she's French Canadian by birth, and the actor who plays her brother is also not from the UK, but I don't know if he's Canadian or American. His accent is also rather generic-sounding.

The brother's accent is excellent. I thought he was a Brit until about 5 episodes in. Apparently, he is also a Canuck.

I LOVE TV shows with bad accents. Lost was a prime example - so many terrible 'English', 'Scottish' and 'Australian' accents (all Americans obvs). My flatmate and I always refer to it as the "fake accent university" (after the episode of Friends where Ross puts on an English accent to impress his students and Rachel makes a prank phone call to him inviting him to join the 'fake accent university').
