It really was incredible! Front row for me and even Dizzee was great!

No unfortunately. I was quite far to the right and he only really went round the front by the B stage. :(

Edit: just walked past about 400 crystal palace fans at Victoria. Never ever met one before today!

Passed my probationary period at work!

Would have been awful if they didn't take me on - mainly because I'm off on holiday on Thursday and I'd have spent the whole time worrying about getting another job!

Excellent news. At least I know that if they choose to give me the boot I'll have a month to find another job!

I'm also extremely excited about my upcoming holiday to Canada. Does anyone have any tips on where to go/what to do in Toronto? We've got a day to Ottawa planned and a day at Niagara Falls, and a Blue Jay's game (baseball).

You are almost as far as it's possible to get from my where I've been whilst staying in the same country, so I don't know that area very well! However - you are relatively close to and there at the same time as the Canadian Grand Prix in Montréal (assuming you'll still be there on 9th June (and if you're not, that's a long way to come back so quickly!) so that would definitely be on my list, but maybe not yours...

(bear in mind, last time I went to Canada it was for a wedding and I was there for 48 hours!)

Ah OK - it's such a huge place and a long flight, I can't imagine being there for less than two weeks - although your flight is probably shorter than the one to Edmonton!

Why is this? Presumably there are strict orders that other employees don't find out?

My department is the only one generating a profit for us. We are in serious financial difficulty right now so I'm assuming its just because they didn't want to annoy me. I'm not allowed to tell anyone about the financial arrangement I have no. It will get leaked though at some point as it always does here.

There can't be strict orders that the rest of the workforce can't find out - it is illegal for an employer to insist that staff do not discuss salaries. This is because Equality law and Discrimination Law makes it illegal for people doing the same job at the same level to be paid different amounts, so in order to ensure transparency and fairness employers are not allowed to request that staff refrain from discussing their pay or bonuses.

I'm sure plenty do though. But if people want to talk about it, they can even if they have signed a contract with that as a clause - it would be an illegal therefore unreasonable clause and the employer would be unable to take action against a staff member who ignored it and be required to remove it.

Personaly I can't imagine why you would want to discuss it.

It is more of a choice thing for me. It would demoralise the work force even more than they already are if it became public knowledge. We have redundancies coming soon too.

I agree. I was just pointing out that your employer has no right to attempt to impose that restriction on you or any other employee, and if they attempted to discipline anyone for discussing their salary the company could find themselves in very deep shit if that employee decided to report them.

Good work! We're hoping to sign for ours this week - it's taken a dog's age to sort out all the red tape. The good news is that it's dropped in price since we originally viewed it.

Off to Canada in the morning! (Mentioning for the umpteenth time), can't wait to get a decent holiday under my belt for the first time in 2 years (second time in 10!). Turning my out of office on until 9th June practically gave me a semi.

135/1 odds that I come back and Deadly is a mod.
