Today I listened to 3rd August 2004, and Chris said that he was starring in a film which I've forgotten the name of. Does anyone have the clip of his scene for that film?

Not if you haven't seen the film or have any idea what he's on about, for all I knew it was a massive film that he was actually in.

Great to hear the very first Rob DJ Pub Quiz on Thursday. Carrie started recently, next milestone the pub quiz, not sure what will come next, it's too early for Matt Fincham.

Sad show mentioning the death of John Peel. I knew this would come up on Chris' show as I remember Peel died in 2004. I would listen to Peel on his BBC World Service show. Good memories of hearing those shows.

To be honest, I had no idea who John Peel was until this show. I'd heard Chris mention him occasionally while the show was still on R1, but I never bothered to look up any info on him. I was really struck by how much he meant to everyone on R1.

There are honestly many bands that he gave breaks to by playing them that resulted in bands getting record contracts. I don't know if you've read up about him so I will share this (forgive me if I am repeating something you've read) with you - Early in John Peel's career at Radio 1 (he was there from the start in 67) he was told he could only play X amount of records and he had to do other things during that time. He had the brainstorm to have bands come in and play live. This was the start of his famous Peel Sessions. Some unknown bands and later repeat and popular bands would come in and do a few tracks. The Cult, Fugazi, New Order and many others did Peel Sessions. See this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Peel_sessions for a long list of performers. I think he is the music fan that many would like to be, open. He wouldn't only play one or two styles of music and was open to various styles.

You're welcome

Listened to the Nov. 19, 2004 show this morning. Not bad up until it was ruined by the appearance of Leigh Francis as Avid Merrion pretending to be Mel B(?). Damn - I just don't find this guy to be funny at all.

There's a very good reason for that. He isn't funny at all.
