I can't play poker. Pretty much the only card game I can play is 21, though I used to be able to play Shithead.

If it was the other way round, you wouldn't even get one person asking whether the groom would be ok with it!

It's easy - I'll show you.

We should totally have a forum Poker night. *insert joke here*

The Deadly wrote:Poker isn't exactly the most sociable of games plus it can be quite daunting to learn how to play it if you're a first time player.

Yeah, that's kind of what I think too. I can barely play anything more Snap.

You're probably right :)

Is that the same as cheat? Where you say you're putting down 4 of one card and in fact put about 6 cards down...

I can't remember, though I do think some people call it differently. I did say 'used to' be able to play!

The thing is that Mr Red has never wanted to get married before, whereas I have - I'm not one of those people who has been dreaming about it since I was a kid, but I did have some ideas about what I'd want before I had a groom to go with them :) so thus far he's been happy to just go with anything I've wanted/suggested, even though I've said repeatedly that I welcome his input and want it to be his day as much as mine. But now he's suggested something I'm not keen on and I've become worried that I'm gonna turn into a spoiled brat if I don't get my way on everything - I do have a tendency to get like that at Christmas and it's a weird trait that I can't quite identify the origin of. Maybe it's cos I was an only child for seven years...? Anyway. I really don't wanna be like that about the wedding, but I'm now quite concerned that I will be.

Don't worry Nic, it's a natural part of learning to be Married!

You have to get him to suggest your ideas to you without him knowing!

You should give each other 3 Veto's to any idea so that you are fairly binning ideas the other doesn't like.

Yeah, we're not having a casino table. I'm vetoing this gambling business before it gets going. I even tried to use the excuse that a lot of my relatives are Catholic, but my helpful RE teacher brother had to comment that Catholics aren't technically opposed to gambling. In fact it turns out that Christians should only really be opposed to it on the grounds of coveting money and placing false hope in winning, and the charity aspect kinda bypasses that.

Because Mr Red has bought me a red rose for every month we've been together, I quite liked the idea of using red roses in the decor and stuff - which obviously is completely different from the Vegas theme. I'm gonna wear my grandmother's antique red rose earrings to get married in, and a red rose garter. So I need to figure out which I want to go with...

I work in a bookies, and I find the idea of having gambling at my wedding absolutely repellent. That said, I've still to brainwash a girl in to thinking I'm a nice person.

chrysostom wrote:I'd love a giant projection screen with an Xbox so people could sign up to play a game of FIFA...*sigh*

If I could find a girl who'd allow and take part in this, I'd be set.

Bearing in mind that my eyes are too sensitive for games on normal sized monitors or TVs, one on a giant screen would probably result in me having some sort of seizure.

People hire casinos for their wedding but it is usually a no money casino where people just make free bets and have a laugh. I think the wedding needs to represent both of you. Mine had a huge beautiful church, stately home, tall candelabras and a big Victorian feel...Chris's input was a only fools and horses van and I surprised him with a del boy because I knew he would love it. It is a day about you as a couple and two worlds joining, not just the bride which I think people forget.
#497517
Yeah, I obviously want it to reflect us both. Not that I've had many ideas on how to do that yet. Mr Red certainty doesn't have a strong enough affiliation with any tv show to have it included in the reception! But we've got lots of time to come up with ideas.

I know, it's a gamble. He'll like it when we get round to watching it though, I'm confident...

So far the worst crime he's committed is not knowing who the Pankhursts were, and that's not quite the same.

Yep. You might be mixed up with Emily Wilding Davison, another famous suffragette (she's the one Clare Balding did the doc on the other week).
