Are you sure? I have never used SnapChat, but as far as I know, the action of taking a screenshot doesn't register any type of event that the app could pick up on in order to alert the other user.

Have you tried it? I suspect that's scaremongering. On Android it might be possible by monitoring the folder that screenshots go into, but I doubt Apple would allow an app to do that.
