I am currently in the middle of a period of Fridays off (six in a row). Four day weeks are gooooood. Three days are better, mind, but still.

Since I found out that his mother committed suicide when he was 10, his childlike difficulties with seemingly simple things seems sad, rather than funny.

I do have a retort, but shall keep it to myself so as to not 'ruffle the feathers'. Do think you're reading little to much into what was a copy-n-pasted joke from elsewhere, but hey-ho. As always, no offence was intended.

not seen it, sorry.

Is it bad to say that I'm not interested in him on a personal level, let alone from an entertainment POV. I only say that as it's the reason I've no intention of sympathising with his decision to profit from his haplessness.

You're right that he does seem to be profiting from it - just like all famous people are profiting from some attribute or another, I guess. I wasn't really reading anything into it - just offering my opinion on the common perception of him as a "thick see-you-next-Tuesday". I dunno, I don't care enough to argue it.

I know nothing about him (I think he came from that stupid Essex programme?) but if his mum did commit suicide when he was young, that's clearly very sad. I know nothing of his intellect or lack thereof. His childhood doesn't change what I think of him, which is that he must be a bit of a fame-seeking twat to have done that awful programme in the first place and even more of a fame-seeking twat to go on the I'm a "Celebrity" programme. So, fame-seeking twat then.

I've no real strong feelings on Joey Essex either way but I remember when I was growing up there were a lot more celebrities who were famous for being good in a particular field be it singing, acting etc. From the little I've seen of Joey Essex he is famous for being very stupid and borderline mentally challenged. He shouldn't be blamed for profiting from that though I blame social media and the tabloid press more.

I felt the same about Jade Goody to be fair, which wasn't a popular view. Flog your ignorance, misery and personal life to the idiots who will pay for it all you want - if you've no discernable talents you're never going to see an opportunity to make this kind of money ever again, but a lack of respect, sympathy and generally negative public perception will follow. It's the price of selling your dignity.

Bad things happen to people of all sorts, but I don't see a responsibility from the public to actively care just because they're in the public eye. For instance, when Fabrice Muamba almost died on the pitch - the football community was in shock and distressed as he was a relevant figure within their sphere of consciousness, but I wouldn't expect someone removed from that world (like my mum) to particularly care about this case more than any other.

I must state I'm NOT confirming any sort of stereo type, but...

When I recently bought my new car, in Essex, the two chaps running the garage were:

a) dressed in sharp suits
b) had polar white teeth
c) very orange in colour
d) were talking about 'pulling buuurrrrds'

I'll say no more on it.

I had an unexpected bonus last night - on the way home, had a call from my mate who had a spare ticket to Ed Byrne.. was a bit of a rush to get ready, but worth it, * funny.

I'm making a pumpkin pie at the weekend! Never tried it before. I managed to get literally the last can of pumpkin in the shop at Waitrose. Hoping it goes well.

That IS an unexpected bonus - Ed Byrne is very funny. Love they way him a Dara bounce off each other (in a comedy way, not a bum-loving kind of way).

Been trying to get me n Mrs DTJ comedy tickets near us, but they always date clash! Grrrr...

Indeed, great support. Unusual format - where the main act comes on for 15 minutes or so, introduces the support and then comes back on after, but I enjoyed it, it worked well and allowed him to rip the pics out of Ben Norris in his introduction, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Broke my phone. New screen required. Dropped it off yesterday, quoted 2 hours. Told 'em I'll be back today to collect giving them grace of 24hours. Started it once I arrived back to collect it, stood about for 45 mins... Grrrr.

EDIT: Now I'm over the shock of the colour - I must admit, it is nice to see what Sir Moyles is up to...

Damn my twitter apathy.
