The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

On today's podcast it was interesting to hear that they were going to have their first show podcast. Good to hear these things I missed before I started listening a couple of years later.

BBC 1 coming to Sirius was announced on my RSS show this morning from June of 2005. With that came the very sad revelation that the number of unheard shows for me will soon be coming to an end... On the positive side, I still have seven plus years of shows left to go!

I was wondering when R1 came to Sirius. I'm listening to June of 05 currently, but I haven't hit the show where they made this announcement. Since I had XM I didn't discover the show until late '08 after Sirius and XM merged. I still remember the first bit of the show I heard. It was around Christmas and Keifer Sutherland was on for an interview. From my first listen, I liked the show in general but I really didn't care much for the music itself. Not really what I was interested in. That never changed for me all the way to the end. One thing I've noticed listening to the old shows is how much more of the music I liked. I get a bit frustrated that the songs are chopped out (although I understand why).

That's where i-tunes, CDs' and other methods of obtaining come into play. I try and get most of the music I like on CD (I'm old enough to still rebel against the modern fad of download. :) )

Absolutely. There's been more than one occasion where a song that I really like was played on the show that I knew I had on my MP3 player. Since I listen to the show on the same device, I'd pause it, go to the song in my library, play it and then go back to the show.

There's me thinking I was the only person doing that! For the last couple of years, I kept my own recordings for my own personal use, with the music intact and I'm looking forward to listening to those again. Although, I might find I get annoyed hearing the same old "Bilge" over and over and switch to the edited versions. 8O :D

Nice to know I'm not the only one!

Same here. From early 2011 onwards I have kept all unedited shows. Except for one god damned piece of the marathon show that I deleted by accident...grr.

Tell me what you're missing and I should be able to help you out.

It's the first Dev show. I requested it a few times in s&v requests, but people kept pointing me to the files in the vault of the entire marathon split into two parts, and I did try to download those to clip down the show I need, but they just wouldn't work for me. Not sure why. But its been a constant source of irritation to me that I'm missing one, so if you could upload it somewhere it'd be much appreciated.

From this, I take it that the first Dev show was "2011-03-17 The Chris Moyles Show Radio 1's Longest Show Ever ...with Dev.mp3" ?

If so, here she is! https://mega.co.nz/#!7cx2jQKD!DNe8s1b_6 ... KD3OIVfQDs

I also have all the shows on video. That show would probably be "08_Thurs_03.30_06.30.ts" ?

My RSS show today was their first back from holiday and the first Sirius show, Monday 18 July 2005. Listening to it on this morning's commute, I was surprised how much I felt that I was no longer eavesdropping in on something only we über-cool Americans knew about and knew was brilliant. I have to say, it kind of ruined it a bit for me! I'm sure that I will get bravely over it. I know it was his excitement and that it dies down as time goes on but Chris' specifically making attempts to acknowledge and play to "the yankee doodles" didn't help. Not (italics) being American was precisely why the show was so great!
Post overboard! I'll stop now...

I did hear the following day when Chris announced that they indeed were NOT on Sirius as of yet due to an internal balls up. Narrow boat trip tomorrow, I'm looking forward to that!

UPDATE: Gutted! For reasons I do not understand, my RSS download skipped right past narrow boat Friday...

I have got up to "Sunday 25th December 2005 - Christmas Day Special" but the link would appear to be broken.

Anyone else got another copy they could upload perhaps?
