I find it baffling that someone who loves radio so much wouldn't want to ever do it again.

Maybe his way of thinking is that he's done the biggest thing you can possibly do in UK radio (despite only getting the 2nd biggest audience) and anything else would be a massive step down?

I also think he won't do Radio 2 Incase it bombs, im not sure his ego could handle it.

He released another video today. He addressed the headline in it and said he paid the back tax owed back in February. That's all over and done with.

Double bluff? Remember; he doesn't do things by halves, and his tongue is always buried deep in his cheek.......

Something is obviously brewing !!

This did cross my mind. I mean who has meetings about stuff they're never going to do, it seems pointless and not worthy of a meeting. However the bit in the brackets reinforced the sentiment so I dunno.

Unless of course the meetings were for something completely unrelated and he just wrote that to troll his followers.

It's funny seeing the poll - '1' is now a no go. '3' is a complete non-starter (And not just because of the Dave bit), '2' is massively unlikely (in my opinion), '4' will be a race he won't win and '5' is a fall from grace.

I can kind of see his predicament. The problem is, Radio is the only medium where he has any true value.

Keep forgetting to post this, but on Friday 17th October on Channel 4 is "Stand up to Cancer" which apparently features a celebrity edition of Gogglebox. Given the random cameo in Chris's video a few weeks back of the posh couple from Gogglebox it could be a sign that he might make an appearance.

Fingers crossed it all picks up... listening to all the old podcasts (again!) is whetting ones appetite for more CM.

After saying last week he's never doing radio ever again, he says in this week's video he has no plans to return to radio, but "never say never".

Which is it?

The fact he has to beg for subscribers to his YouTube channels just confirms that he must of spent a small fortune on his Twitter followers!

ooo how very cynical.

I just think with no radio show to bang on about stuff, no one actually cares.

I nearly quit the latest video around the 5 - 6 min mark. I just found it dull. The advert gag was so cringe, the jump cuts are annoying and him talking to the camera the way he does in that sort of reviewer style is starting to grate.

It needs to be way more organic and less staged.

There are a few things at play here IMO.

People miss the team as much as they miss Chris. So having Chris doing stuff is welcome but feels lacking without them (Dave, Dom, Aled in particular.)

It's the wrong format. People know Chris from the radio - audio to listen to while travelling or doing something else. A YouTube video is a completely different discipline and requires a different level of attention from fans. A podcast would work better.

There's not a lot of material, the videos are quite short and infrequent.

But what do people want to hear Chris talk about?

If we're being honest, there's nothing that he's a specialist in which lends itself to an interesting podcast.

All he has to do is get a few guests on now and again and chat about his life and current events, just like on R1.
It'd be easy to get good guests, as he'd get good numbers from day one.

It is true that he needs a team around him. He needs to bounce thoughts off people, he doesn't do well on his own, like many DeeJayz.

I do hope one day that he and Comedy Dave reconcile. He could start off a podcast with Dom as his sidekick. All he needs is two microphones.

But there's so little that would make his output socially relevant in my opinion.

His versatility to communicate to large and varied audiences is exactly the thing which is preventing anything which he does off his own back from really taking off.

I can't think of any specific topic that I'd like to hear Chris talk about on a regular basis, and on the Radio a huge proportion of his content was led by producers & the R1 schedule, he just made it his own.

I'm not convinced you've heard a TCMS show!

Chris is a reactor. He is best when reacting to current events, news stories etc and this could easily be done with a podcast. I'm staggered he hasn't gone down this route as he gave his opinions to a national audience for 8 years and then all of a sudden it's just gone and he seems to just have accepted it. It's a bit odd.

I confess I haven't watched any of his videos and just find myself not remotely interested in doing so. I played a few show clips on my mp3 player the other day and enjoyed them as much as I always have, so maybe I'm just not a fan of Chris outside the context of radio. Although I watched stuff like his Kilimanjaro doc and Who Do You Think You Are and enjoyed those too at the time - so maybe it's more that I'm not a fan of who he is now? Although I'm not even sure who that is exactly. I dunno. Thoughts. I have them.

You've hit the nail on the head there for me.
He seems too different now.
Like one of those annoying celebs who are famous for being famous.

His big time Charlie gimmick he played on the radio (never turn right on a plane etc) was funny to me because he was just a big northern loud mouth who had money.
Now he seems to actually be a wannabe.

Reading that back, it makes little sense. But I think I know what I mean so in not deleting it! Plus it took an age to type on my phone!

It makes some sense.......

A bit like his financial affairs, maybe he has taken so ill-advice on his career. I can understand his complete break from radio, as it is obvious he felt he should move more into TV or something else. But to almost vanish off the planet (and most definitely most people's radar) for so long, and then to come back with these videos is almost bordering on desperation to cling on to past glories.

I had thought maybe he had something in the pipeline. I now am starting to think he hasn't.

Still, the celebs for the jungle are announced next week.......

This from Aled today:

It really seems like it would be a no-brainer for Chris to do a regular podcast. Too bad he has no interest in doing so.

That article rings too true for me, I was all ready to jump on the defending Moyles bandwagon but it's spot on.

I remain baffled that he hasn't started a podcast. It's the only real logical step after radio.

The fact that he still has 3 million Twitter followers but dire YouTube views (even after promoting the hell out of it) speaks volumes. People liked to hear him, not watch him. Quiz Night kinda proved that too.

I did really really want the YouTube channel to work, just to convince him that the public are still interested, but if this isn't a success who knows what he'll do next.
