This was just posted by Carver PR on Facebook with some photos....

"Tonight at 11.15pm you can hear a very revealing and warm interview between Chris Moyles and Stephen Nolan on BBC Radio 5 live"

Stephanie Hirst was with him earlier on Periscope in the 5 Live studio for the recording... Maybe they're in a relationship? Something "very revealing" ??

In some ways it felt like a very honest interview, but at the same time he deflected SO many questions, including about Dave. I think it's time to face that we're not gonna hear more than "he has his own production company". There were no huge revelations though (unless there was something in the first 15mins, I missed that).

I was disappointed with the Dave answer too, the same "he's busy with his own production company" - if that's the case and they remain in contact then a phone call feature with Dave on the line would surely be on the cards - like Rob DJ on the phone - get Dave on now and again and he could still continue the day job!

I'm still hoping that "one day" it WILL happen - purely because neither say anything negative publicly about each other when quizzed!

And on "that" holiday photo that seems to be the hot topic of the friendship breakup - is it just be, or does anybody else not think that the person in the SuperDry top with the pixilated face waving is actually Dave!!! ?!?

If that first 15 minutes included all the stuff about leaving Radio 1 and the average age thing, you should definitely listen to it when it goes on iPlayer (or live restart on the link I posted above whilst you can)

So lying in bed with a cold so feeling rubbish at the moment whilst listening to Stephen Nolan interview chris. Interesting interview and in fairness to Nolan he did push so far with the Dave issue. However with chris answering honestly it sounded like he hadn't asked Dave by repeating that you can't run a production company and do the show. The tax issue wasn't brought up either.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to throw Chris under the bus here (x2) but I think the tax issue could have been raised as that is primarily something Chris has to take responsibility for whereas the Dave issue involves other people who don't necessarily want it discussed in public.
Of course its all none of my business anyway and Chris can do what he likes.

Wonder if we'll ever see his sitcom? The whole watching TV looking to spot negative things was also what made Harry hill stop TV burb. Also interesting was how Ben Cooper wanted to handle the announcement of Chris leaving. I'm glad Chris got his way on that and I still remember listening to it to this day.

I would agree that people need to let go of the idea of Dave coming back to the show, as far as I can make out that's never going to happen. But it's not surprising that there's a real curiosity about what went on, because it was clearly something bad! Anyone who was a regular listener to the show would have been well aware that Chris and Dave were very close friends for a long time. Going right back to the afternoon show years, there seemed to be an almost 'Ant and Dec' type relationship between them (obviously actual Ant and Dec are on a different level-they're pretty much the same person), where in addition to working together they spent a lot of off air time together on a day to day basis too, much of it in the pub.

As they grew a bit older, and Dave got married etc, it didn't sound like they were socialising quite as much anymore, but you could tell that they still had a great relationship. So for two people have had that kind of friendship for so many years, whilst also being workmates, and to now be in a situation in which there's seemingly no contact at all between them, you would have to suspect that a major fall out has occurred. If it isn't addressed in at least a little more detail than Chris' current stock line about Dave's production company then it's just going to keep being brought up again and again, because fans of the show have a genuine interest in the whole issue, and that's probably not going to go away anytime soon.

Well frankly what good would it do to say (if it's true) we hate each other other than giving the tabloids fodder for more negative stories?

The most interesting bit as mentioned was Ben trying to tell Chris he was axing the show at 10:15 and announce it at 10:30 which is a pretty shoddy thing to do. We might have been in for a Danny Baker/BBC London situation if it had gone that way which really would've left a bad taste after all those years at R1.

That said it would be good to hear both sides of the story just a shame the interview wasn't before Ben appeared at the Radio Festival this week!

I just thought it may have been a great opportunity to put a firm closure on things if "something" has happened between them, for the fans that are genuinely interested in hearing Dave work with Chris on the radio again, rather than hover over the subject with the "Dave's busy" angle - he could have simply said, I didn't ask him back, we no longer speak, something down that line, he wouldn't have had to go into full details, he mentioned that during the interview that there are some things that he like's to keep private.

He did a long periscope video the other night and a huge number of the questions being asked were Where's Dave, which he tried his very best to ignore every single one... until he mentioned it generically about everyone else in his old R1 team.

They had a great thing going on together for many many years, for him to just vanish with little to know mention, then of course it's going to getting people asking the same questions until they no a little more or hear him on the show

He also mentioned how the papers take things said in interviews and twist them. Look at what the jokey 'why do that to your kids' line to Noel Gallagher got blown up into...

...even a 'we don't speak anymore, but I wish him well with his production company' comment would have been turned into 'Motormouth DJ Moyles SNUBS Comedy Dave from new show over BITTER ex-wife row!'...'Moyles sensationally revealed last night that he refuses to speak to long time friend and on-air sidekick 'Comedy' Dave Vitty etc...'

I missed this comment last night (because it was midnight and I'm an old lady), but I must say that Chris being in a relationship with a transgender woman would certainly have taken the heat off the Dave question, if nothing else...

Thankyou Neil, I've clipped down the interview and added it to the sound vault:

A pretty good interview. The whole bit about what went down leading up to him announcing he was leaving the R1 show was very interesting. And I agree about the Dave part. He got off that topic as fast as he could. People really need to get over the fact that Dave is not coming back to work with Chris any time soon - if ever.

I got confused by some of his comments about Dave. In one hand he wouldn't confirm or deny if he approached Dave to come back but then he mentioned he couldn't get someone who was irreplaceable, did he mean Dave? Anyone else any clearer. As much as I'm a big fan of Chris I was a bigger fan of the show including Comedy Dave & really miss his input. Wonder if Dave has any beef with Dom still being friends with Chris?

I'm sure he's mentioned her (Suzanne Kane) before but it might have been on Twitter...

...I read into that he wanted her as an alternative to Dave rather than a replacement acknowledging that would be impossible so in some respects that's a compliment to him.

Chris said before the X show started he couldnt replace Dave. We all (well, most) have that natural urge to know whats really happened in anything in life, especially something youve invested alot of time into, but i really dont think we are going to find out. Neither Chris or Dave have gone into detail, and i dont think they are going to after all this time.

I've never listened to her on the radio, but have seen her occasional appearances on 'Midday', Ireland's version of 'Loose Women'. On the whole it's actually a much more palatable show than LW, and Suzanne Kane always comes across as being a nice girl, with a good sense of humour. I have heard her mention Chris on there, but only as her cousin Chris, never as 'Chris Moyles'. I know she has a young baby now, which may be part of the reason why she couldn't do the new show with him.

Seems a tad unlikely - not because of the transgender thing, but Chris has been mates with Hirsty for decades way back from the start of his career doing radio in West Yorkshire - where Hirsty did the breakfast show on Capital for absolutely ages. I think they are just two radio geeks really. I'm sure Chris used to mention her on the show occasionally back when she was Simon - or at least on twitter and maybe in his books too?

Anyway, this was a great interview. I think the answer about Dave actually was in the interview even though he never said it, the clues were there that something bigger has happened. Chris said he likes to keep his private life private and as such the dodging of the Dave question to me said there was something else there he wasn't willing to reveal (regardless of all the rumours), especially as he point blank refused to answer if Dave had ever been asked to do Radio X. If it was a yes, he would have said. I also thought it was pretty interesting that he said he had had the idea of his cousin on the show since the day he left breakfast - to me implying he already knew he wouldn't work with Dave again.

The story of the end of Radio 1 was interesting, but not that shocking. It happens all the time, although I agree Chris had earned the right to announce it himself and not on Newsbeat. I think it probably is to avoid "Danny Baker" style situations, but I think Chris has too much respect for himself and the audience to do that (although let it be said Danny Baker is one of the finest broadcasters in the country). Would like to have known a bit more what Radio 1 offered him and his reasoning for turning it down that was touched upon in the recent Sun interview. Overall though I think this was probably one of the best interviews Moyles has ever been the subject of and is as clear an insight as we are likely to get - for a while anyway.
