Seems this isnt a games based forum i shall keep it short. Both the XBOX and PS2 are not up to much. I have a PS2 and wish I never had baught one due to the lack of quality games, the XBOX on the other hand has no quality games as of yet. I have played a fair few of the games on both systems and rate them very poor, graphics and lastability is the worst problems. People think that the XBOX is going to be a grand graphics station, well on your bog standard tv just forget it. I have to much more to say but i wont.

If your looking for a dedicated games machine, get an Athalon PC or Gamecube, or better still a Gameboy advanced! All three are laden with quality games, and i do mean quality not quantity.

Sheesh somebody stop me!

Don't get me started on the Crap Box I hate it with a passion, and don't understand all the fuss over it! Plus don't have a go at Playstation 2 there is nothing wrong with it. Anyway I'll not go on a long rant about it. Unless it is called for.

I'm waiting for the Nintendo game cube - it is supposed to be great. It will be like the same thing that happened with the N64 - they only brought out games when they knew they ahd spent enough time making them great -so there was not loads to choose from but nearly everygame that came out was brilliant..., MUCH MUCH better than playstation etc....Mario, Zelda (1 and 2), Perfect Dark, GOLDENEYE (THE BEST GAME EVER bar none!!!!!)etc etc...the graphics were also much better than the other platforms at the time. The Game cube will proove to be the very same on a higher level, you amrk my words.

The N64 = great but very underated except by a small army of fans who stumbled upon it

Game cube will = Excellnt games, graphics but very underated except by a small army of fans who stumbled upon it

Plus - you can plug your gameboy advanced in to!

I know there will be many arguments agaisnt this but guess what....I don't care....I know what I think!

Well other than GT2 not a bad selection. However Goldeneye was missed of there, truely a marvel in gaming genious. Its all subjective really when it comes to favourits, however there is no denying what makes a good game. Clear criteria for that is: HOW DOES IT PLAY, IS IT FUN, DOES IT LAST LONG ENOUGH, ARE THE GRAPHICS TOLERABLE. There are many more like these that could be put in, however you get the idea of it. I remember the old days of SF2 etc, playability was always ranked highest because there was nothing else to work with.

Sadly today, take a trip over to http://www.ign.com and look at there message boards. Idiotic PS2 fanboys saying how great there console is, which it isnt. "oooo look at the architecture, its a trippled layered chip, they will make games in the future that look better than the xbox". Idiotic xbox fanboys whiteling about how the xbox has an almighty gforce 3 card, which isnt bad, but hardly worth wetting ureself over. "wow it can do 500000 billion bilinear 4 textured, lighted and bump maped textures every hour" lol sorry couldnt resist. Lets not mention the gamecube fanboys as im a bit of a one myself.

Alas I shall probably sell my arachaic ps2 now, take my own advice and get a gameboy advanced. None of these consoles come even close to my pc so if the only reason for having them is graphical power, then they can go umm away lol. damn cant think of a good punch line, its all this playing on my pc, rotting my brain. Take heed ppl, pcs suck... ok im gona keep on rambling, but to myself, hopefully ill be commited.

I remember the halcyon days when gameplay was all important - it's a shame that these days developers seem to have lost sight of that. As our friend guest so rightly says, it's not about the power of the machine - after all, the spectrum, Amiga or even the Super Nintendo (although powerful in their day) are no match technically for todays machines, but the fact the games are still being played speaks volumes.

If you think about how many great games there are these days there aren't that many which truly shine. True, it may be hard to be truly original as most ideas have already been done to death, but every now and then you get suprised by something innovative, such as Grand Theft Auto.

It's time to stop arguing about whose machine is more powerful - after all, who wants a machine that can shift x polygons every second if there are no decent games? Unless game designers produce quality games with all the qulaities already mentioned - playability, lastability etc., there seems little point to any of it.

Anyway, enough from me for now. I'm off to play Jet Set Willy...

You have played Tomb Raider and found it scary, lol. Wait till you play any of the resident Evils or Silent Hill then you would have reason to be creeped out.

My friends used to have a Comador 64 (sp?) That was a quality games station.

If you think a few dots on a screen is quality then maybe. I'm sure most of us could create a better picture by placing a few random dots on a piece of paper. Then anything the commador 64 ever did.
Also what exactly did the 64 have to do with the name?
