The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Please tell me you saw the 'One o Clock News' today.Front of picture-news presenter, somberly decked in full black regalia juxtaposed against a mes-an-scene of mandotary mourners and middle England do gooders observing flowers outside Clarence House.
"This has been a very solemn day and people are here to show their respect for this wonderful....etc" Rear of picture-family of slack jawed yokels adorned in matching shell suits-father on mobile phone yapping to someone who is obviously watching the TV.Whole family starts giving thumbs up to camera and take it in turns to speak on the movable blowhorn and wave.Mother then produces camera and proceeds to photograph the TV crew whilst cheerless newsreader obliviously continues with morose report, and they say theres no longer a class system in this country?

I've posted about this subject soooo many times before. The working classes are smelly, ignorant, ill-mannered people with little or no morals; and their IQ is considerably lower than that of the middle classes. I know it's a bit of a taboo to say this, but I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.
There is a reason why people live on these sink estates, because their parents or grand parents were too lazy/stupid to get of their fat arses and get a job. And crime figures in these dirty areas prove that the people there have much lesser moral values than humans...whoops I mean 'other people'.

Good call! ...and when I was at college and I used to have to catch the bus it was *always* full of these people. They were always mouthing off on the mobile phones, and the words "I'm on the bus... I said I'm on the bus" would be included in any conversation...

lets just say i live near an estate where there must be about 30 houses boared up....if a camera was placed in the middle of this estate from the bbc a load of A******* would come up and wave and make an a*** of themselves to be on telly no matter what subject it would be..then they would instantly nick the camera once finished

Ladies and Gentlemen a round of applause for the most pathetic and bias social comment ever devised.

Without question there is an element within the proletarian, which possess undeveloped ‘morals’, but the same could be said for the bourgesioe. In fact, acts of fraud and deception displayed by middle class businessman show a more calculating and devious version of 'moral character'.

'...Prove me wrong'
I'm a member of the working class so in theory using CornishTw@ts state of the art 'social composition model' I shall see if my characteristics match up

Smelly- I shower daily
Ignorant- I took time to read Cornish Tw@ts comments
Ill mannered I say please and thank you
No morals- I only drink after 12
Low IQ- I'm no Sigmund Freud but neither Emma Freud

Um, the model seems to be flawed. Now that’s a shock. The irony has not been lost on me. A middle class chap attacking 'ignorant' members of the working class whilst possessing inverted objectivity and generalisations that underline his own ill-mannered ignorance.

The hereditary flow of wealth is crucial. If a persons parents are poor it is increasingly harder for them to pursue higher education without the aid of other means of finance i.e. working. A person who has richer parents will not have to worry about financial pressures and will therefore have the benefit of choosing and pursuing a required field of study they are interested in. If two people from either sides of the social spectrum possessed equal intellectual ability in the field of law yet one of the two people is from a much poorer background it is unquestionable that the path to success and social mobility would be much easier for the well supported middle class student

Finally, a case study to pour further scorn onto this nonsical argument. Whilst conversing with a middle class student the other week she explained that she is in the first year of an accounting and finance degree course. A little later I cracked a joke about 'CEO's', she looked a little startled. The reason being is that my supposed intellectual superior who was studying accounting and finance had no idea of what a CEO was. Luckily for her, such information is worthless as in 2 years time she shall take a high position within a company, owned of course by her dad.

In Conclusion, there are some beastly members of the working class; there are some beastly people of the middle class. It is amusing how similar the two social groups are. Ignorance is rife.

Bumpkins decked in a finer suit of cloth me thinks.

that case study is deeply flawed not taking into account the state of mind of a person choosing an accounting course in the first place. By the way CEO is very much an american style term an has no real relevance to accounting and finance (im in my third year an the term has never been mentioned).

by the way it seems to me that the confusion is made between a class system and "class" as a personality trait. Ignorance crosses all class boundaries and to be honest a little ignorance is not always a bad thing....

oh yeah...... woof.

Yes I was there at the time those comments were made by the young lady, other comments that were made include: “I’ve done everything” referring to drugs, “If you help me with my degree there is something in it for you” referring to something pleasant I’m sure and at a later event she let a friend finger her whilst in the presence of her boyfriend. There was no question of her so-called class, however she seemed to lack the ubiquitous that is customarily associated with that standing.

This can be found throughout the middle classes all the way to the higher classes, my favourite being the trust-a-fairians who’s idiocy and ignorance perplex me still today.

I have many friends who can be considered as middle or lower class, there is some minor differences between them. However, the smellyness, ignorance, manners and IQ are normally distributed between them. Then there are the people who I know who I do not consider my friends, they also have a relatively equal distribution of these traits, however I propose that the differences are in the eye of the beholder and perhaps some people should look closer to home when speaking of manners and definitely ignorance.

I find some of your comments notably inauspicious, yet amusing, whimsical and capricious at the same time. Lets all try to get along, otherwise you shall be visited by 3 ghosts of peasants past!

Gaspode_The_Wonder_Dog were you ever there when the phrase "please read around the subject" and "accounting is an international subject" where used? I am a 3rd year accounting student so dont try any fraudulent comments here, the case study is true and fair as there were more things to consider than what was posted here.

i must have missed them phrases although it hasnt done me any harm as im estimated a 1st. all that read around the subject is crap all you need is what is taught and a little common sense.

Well since this whole arguement was instigated by a few isolated case studies I think it is inconsitent to point out the relative flaws within the ones I have used.

The point was clearly made that ignorance is rife amongst all aspects of the social spectrum.

Thanks to MarX for submitting one of his old sociology essays.Contrary to pop beleif my post was not intended as a desired pop at the gutter snipe I merley wished to relay a spot of unintended hillarity during a live news broadcast.Being working class myself I'm all for them.

i agree that bad taste/bad manners permiate all social classes. i was actually quite shocked (or at least alarmed) by the tone of this thread. in america, i don't think these feelings of superiority and the like are so prevalent. (that's not to say they don't exist, we just aren't as vocal.) i'm studyig class conflict throughout europe right now, and it seems it's still there... i just want to know why.

the laughable thing about this thread is that no one has made any assumptions of anyones class yet everyone automatically assumes where they should fit. personally i would be working class if i could be arsed to do any work..... :P  8)

I'll say it again: prove me wrong !
Check out the crime figures in dirty little poor areas and compare them to rich areas. I rest my case m'lud.
And a_girl_from_mars, I presume you refer to the Brox, Stannsville, Meadows, Radford and other such dirty areas. Scum, scum, scum.
What I still don't understand is why as a modern society we tolerate these sub-species.
