There's absolutely no difference whatsoever. HTML is the original extention that was used on UNIX machines because extention length made no difference on them. Back in the day, Microsoft could only cope with 3 letter extentions so they shortened it to HTM. It doesn't really matter what the extention is, you could use '.HT' if you really wanted to.

Hello again, I'm back with yet another question

When I create pages with FrontPage I get

_vti_cnf

files created. Are these needed for the functioning of the site or is it just another pointless add-in courtesy of Microsoft that can be deleted?

The _vti_cnf folder keeps track of 'meta data' for each page in your web (such as the page author, last time modified, etc.) The
files are named the same as those in your web but they are not the same content.

Tip of the day: Delete FrontPage from your system, and install DreamWeaver UltraDev. (Or MX if you can). Much much better.

So do I need keep these files coz they are just annoying when uploading etc!?

Also, I wouldn't know how to use DreamWeaver but I know how to use FrontPage and it seems to work alright for me! What are the problems with it like?

It's just crap. It puts loads of pointless crap in your code that you don't need.

Fair enough. I don't know why I'm taking this much trouble to do it coz no-one visits my site anyway but I may as well have it proper!

I'll delete the _vti_cnf files and FP. Then get DreamWeaver!

Sorted :D
