Oasis are back ... again and the magazines are yet again shovelling out the same twaddle. They either say its a "return to form" or "more of the same with no new ideas". The Hindu Times has been played over and over and is released tomorrow but what do you think of it?

Hmm depends on if you like that kind of thing, can't say I like it. Don't sound much different to what they used to do, the tune is catchy but if it wasn't for that anoyin vocals then I may enjoy it.
The accent is just so bad and gets on my nerves. As for the guitar solo near the end of the record, yes I know lets play the same rift 3 times, so it sound like I can play something. Come on you can do better than that.
Also hate the way they are said to be back on form as one of the Worlds top Rock bands. Excuse me they never were a top rock band in the world. Yes they may have been the best in the UK but not the world.

Just a point of interest for you Nablo, It's Guitar "Riff" not "rift" - Just thought you might like to knwo for future reference. I think The song sounds VERY Oasis, which must mean a return to form. I like it

What makes Oasis good 1) Good tunes 2) Catchy guitar parts (Whether technically excellent or not 3) Dodgy but memorable lyrics

this song has all three, thus I deem it good. IF you like Oasis you'll like it, if you don't then you'll hate it, simple as that!

um...just thought id point out that the guitar riff on 'The Hindu Times' is the same as the guitar riff on Stereophonics 'Same Size Feet'. (go and listen to it.....exactly the same)

If Oasis captured your attention when they were new on the scene then this return (to the same old) is good. They still have a distinctive style of their own (which will probably excite the kiddies in America more than here now).

But as I turn 35 tomorrow I'm going to have to stop pretending I'm 22! and stop having an opinion on rough young rowdy bands! Ha! eg. I go to Gozo - you couldn't get much quieter - tomorrow. Gone are the days of all nighters in noisy resorts. There's some good stuff around at the moment. I wouldn't miss Oasis.

After having Heathen Chemistry for about 2 weeks now I have to say Hindu Times is proabably the 2nd weakest songon the whole album.

Go and download Songbird, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Little By little or All In Mind from Kazaa or something. Trust me you wont regret it. The album isnt as good as the 1st 2 but significatly better than the last 2.

Thats why Blur will always be a better band because they have never made the same album twice, i like the record a lot but the phrase 'One trick pony comes to mind'

.....they may be a one trick pony but it's a damn good trick I don't mind seeing (hearing) again and again!

Kelly Jones noticed the riff was exactly the same, it was in the Sun about a month ago, he said he didn't really mind because he's borrowed from Oasis in the past (I can't think where, but that's what he said). Anyway, I like the song, and think it's better than anything of the SOTSOG album except Gas Panic! which is a rockin' tune.

not earthshatering, more car mechanic crap from the mad for it.

why do they persist with Laim "gravel throat" Gallagher
Noel's voice far superior.....

I love the song, a return to form but the first thing I said when I heard it was that the beginning was stolen form the phonics.

You're right Jonny, Noel's voice is far FAR superior. ALl of my favourite Oasis songs are sung by Noel. I really like their B-sides, 99% of which are sung by Noel - just like the B-sides on the hindu times which are right up to scratch (Not that I expected anything else from an Oasis B-side.

Yes, In my opinion their best! but they have other B-sides that are just as good that have either come since or didn't make it onto the album - pitty it wasn't a double album! Song's such as Flashbax..an EXCELLENT song!!!!!

do DVD singles count towards chart totals?
User avatar

The overall chart postions are only taken from Certain shops in certain areas. So it's only certain shops that you buy CD's from that actually count towards the final postion. Or sommin like that at least :?
