We've got one of these at home and it IS the best thing (including sliced bread) during the summer. Having copious amounts of cubed or crushed ice and chilled filtered water. What luxury....

our cooker is in fact a Belling Executive (i just looked) apparantly they are electrical appliance makers to the queen. is your cooker over 15 years old like ours?

You should see the cooker in my new place, it's minging. Smells when it heats up. I will get a new one, but for now the priority has to be a widescreen TV...

No need for a cooker. You could eat takeaway every night and on them special occasions get your mum to bring a nice big tin of corned beef ash round.
