over the years i've noticed that listening after chris' show can be rewarding

for example

on the saturday show chris did his 10-1 show, then had to stay on for most of the show if not all of it? while emma b was on the toilet

also on the afternoon show chris had to do the first 10/20 minutes of pete tongs show

and more recently "johan" jo whiley made reference to chris giving her producer a massage most days when chris finishes, which was funny when chris walked in to explain himself

i'd just thought i'd point this out if theres any other die-hard fans that might be missing out

I remember when Chris did a marathon 5 hour shift at one point on a Saturday. I'm fairly certain he repeated this when he covered for Dave Pearce on a weekday.

When the breakfast was Zoe Ball n another guy he stood in for Zoe because she was running late i believe, and did a bad impression of her whilst standing in.

Kevin Greening?

They don't seem to do this any more, they just get the weekend / early breakfast people in.

I remember when Mills was on Early Mornings and Coxy was off (as usual) so he filled in for her aswell as doing his show. A marathon 6 hour shift. I also remember one day when he did his show and filled in for Moyles because he was ill.

Mills often had to do that.

Am I imagining things, or did Chris once stand in for Mayo?

He used to stand in for everybody. He was like the Mills of his time.

I remember that too. I think Dave said at the time that it was the only marathon Chris would ever be doing. Nothing compared to Mayo's 37 hours for Comic Relief in 1999 though.

In the last couple of years I also remember the traffic being so bad back from Leeds that Chris missed the first half hour of a show, meaning Mark and Lard carried on till half three, playing the longest songs they could find in full.

Nobody else remembers Chris standing in for Mayo then? In retrospect I think I may have imagined it. I blame it on too much alcohol in my youth.

I am pretty sure Chris did stand in for Mayo.

I remember it - pretty sure it was a summer month as I was on holiday. 99 or 2000. The schedule was all a bit topsy turvy that day.

I do remember once when Mayo was off and being covered for by Theakston, but he was ill and didn't tell them in time so Sara Cox did the Mystery Years and Sarah HB 10-12. It ain't like the old days anymore...
