I'm sure all the trendies from Emmerdale get themselves across to Harrogate for a cut and blow dry. Its probably only about 5 miles away, and there's a regular bus service! Or they go to Leeds, or in times of desparation, they go to Hotten (the town actually known as Otley).

It's on a grid so it's easy to find your way around, it's got good connections to London, it's got a good central shopping community, it's surrounded by some nice villages, the pubs aren't half bad and it's down south. Concrete cows can't go moo though...
