But that's the internal BBC messenger service. You can't add him as it only works at the BBC

Is it a specially adapted MSN messenger or something?

It has excatly the same sound effects as the one I've got, when I've heard it on the air.

You can setup a messenging service and use MSN Messenger to log into it... So it could be possible they are using an internal serivce.

/normalmode

Who cares if Chris has MSN.... jus send him an e-mail to mailto:[email protected].

At BBC Shetland they have Windows Messenger, which is like an out of date version of MSN, but the same sounds etc, and it connects to the BBC network rather than Microsofts. each users address is mailto:[email protected] or something along those lines (it wont be accessible out side of the beeb network)

I doubt the BBC are going to let you install normal MSN, they dont let you even install Winamp.

Although saying that Chris has talked about using MSN at home.

I'm going to stick my anorak on and say that the service they use is closely tied to their Exchange email system, as they use that at the BBC as well, as part of the Exchange email system you can have IM for some or all of your users.

Does everyone in the corporation have access to IM or is it just a few?

Does this also mean that if you work at the BBC you can chat to Chris Moyles?

Well I imagine Chris just adds in the addresses that pop-up when added or are people that are important.

Technically yes, if you have a BBC username you could, however whether Chris would want to speak to you not not block you is a different question.

In Shetland it was used to chat more between Shetland > Orkney and Glasgow which were all offices connected closely and probably saves money on phone calls.
