I had 2 gap years. I didn't feel ready to leave home after A-levels, so I got a job and earnt some money. It didn't really do me any good, because I didn't have anything to spend my money on except alcohol, which was probably not a good idea.

I'm now in my third year, and I'm seriously tired of my course. I know virtually nobody at my university, and if I get a degree out of this place I'll never know for sure whether it was worth the effort.

Plus side is I leave without incurring any debt. - jc
