Timb if you look at it only a few days ago they siad they would liberate Basra then they said they wouldnt enter the town, then they bombed it now they are levelling it with cluster bombs. If im wrong come after me again but until then keep your blinkered responses to yourself

yeah of course they are gonna totally bomb the city until everyone is dead, and noone will complain about this, and it won't be a war crime, it's just part of war.

if you are interested the truth is thus: before they were working on a policy of destroying the military presence around the city and then leaving the urban area relatively alone. now they have discovered mr. husseins special forces are inside and making a bit of a big fight of it, so now they are saying they have to fight to take the town. this will involve bombing, the same sort used in bagdad, that is precision bombing. cluster bombs are not being used in civilian areas. they are only used against extremely large targets where widespread damage needs to be caused. if dropped on a civilian area it would kill hundreds in one go.

Welcome back Timb. Picked up the cluster bomb thing from BBC however it did come from Iraqi sources im going to leave this thread for a while until the truth comes out then i will return.
