of course we invented it... well it evolved over hundreds of years, from many different newcomers to the country

Anyway, doesn't matter where the language comes from. It is a simple fact that English people speak English and Americans speak American, a lazy, easier to understand variation of the English language. (eg no 'U' in ColoUr)

Technically the english language came from latin, and french didn't it? so we all share the same language as the french, italian and so on with variations.
