The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Ok, it's my nephews Christening today, a good excuse for all the ladies in the family to cluck over him and generally be puke-inducing, whilst the blokes check their watches and wonder when they can get to the pub. (I'm not even going to be drinking as I'm still ill :()

Anyway, I digress. The point of this post is this: I know already that when I get to the christening that although Dylan is a boy, he's going to be dressed in a cream coloured DRESS!! Why do people insist on doing this? Not only do they try and drown the poor little bugger, but they dress him up like a girl whilst they do it! In years to come, when Dylan brings his girlfriends round to meet the family they'll drag out his christening photo's and show his girlfriend - now I'm sure most of the guys reading this would agree that they'd rather be dressed in something cool than a dress in the photos being shown to their new girl.

When I have kids I'm dressing my son in jeans and a top for his christening.

I see rocks approaching and if you don't watch it you two will be on them.

Morals if you are christian enough to get your children christened then you have a problem.

I was Christened and my parents never go to Church, I think it was just to please my Grandad.

My Goddaughters were given the choice when they were nine and 11, which is fair enough.

I don't think it's right that people who arn't religious should have their children christened. I was at a christening this morning and I saw all the parents reading the vows and I thought to myself 'I bet they don't believe any of this'. I think it's more traditional value these days, which is not really a good reason to do anything.

It's the only time most families get together at christenings marriages and funerals.

Sad innit

Yeah, but at the end of the day if the vicar don't wanna do it he won't and he must know if the people go to Church regularly or not, bit like when you walk into a pub and the landlord knows you (but less serious.)

Or Al Pacino. I can't do it, but I dream of having that much influence.

Firstly, I'm an aetheist so I don't believe in the whole christening thing anyway.

Secondly, fair play to Deb and Rich on dressing Dylan in a suit and not a dress. Good work!

And Dylan, that name is going to be common as hell for that generation.

Scallies bring such horror into the world of names.

when my sister called her kid jordan i told her it was common. when you think of a kids name you shouldnt associate it with a pair of t*ts.

Jordan and Dylan are names like Michelle and Tracy only for boys.

It is like labelling your child a scally before they have chance to decide to be one.

so right. kids names are crap today!

neither my brother nor i were christened. my mother knew she wouldn't take us to church and didn't want to by a hypocrite. my cousins are all christened, and bnot religious at all. it's mostly a status thing. so what if i'm going to hell... i'm not a faker.

Morals, this thread has made you come across a bit weak really, you are an aethiest but plan a christening for your fictional children that your girlfriend refuses to have even though the biological clock is ticking.

Also what girl do you think would finish you if they saw a picture of you in your christening gown? If they did they certainly arent worth it, most will think it is sweet. You are trying to be over macho, this leads me to conclude that you bat for Timbs team.

The original post was very tongue in cheek, I'm sorry if that wasn't made obvious enough for you.

there is no tone of voice on the internet morals, especially for a drunk

Good to know, thanks!
