I really should learn not to make attempts at humour after being at the pub for three hours (with my boss buying the drinks!!!!!).
Still it amused me so it doesn't matter if no one else is going to laugh at my jokes.

people smoking in their frontyard and having it go on the sidewalk is not illegal yet. smoking within 15 feet of a public building will lead to a citation, as is smoking in any bar, resteraunt, strip joint, music hall, and any other type of public space you could think of. this sorta sucks because this club i go to is an actual club with membership ($2 per year), and only allows members in, so it's "private" and kids can smoke in there. it's pretty bad on a cold night.

God damn. What an exciting place California must be to go out in

It would be if you don't smoke.

sidla's right. i think most people don't really care anymore. smoking is a nice excuse to ditch outside of a club during a band you don't much care for, or to ditch out on people at parties/bars what have you. and california has been relatively smoke free for a number of years now, it seems weird to go places where smoking is allowed in doors. as a non smoker i don't like it much. cigarette burns from dancing is just lame.

When I was on holiday over there, they hadn't banned smoking to the level it is now but most of the bars had banned it. It was very strange, half the pub (including everyone behind the bar) would disappear outside for a quick smoke quite regularly. Meant the evening didn't flow as nicely as in the UK.
Am happy for no smoking in resturants, shopping malls etc but I kind of missed it in the pubs (oh in case you hadn't guessed, I don't smoke).

how long ago was your holiday? must have been more than 3 years ago, which makes you a fair bit older than me. silly, i pegged you for about 13.

It was back in March 2002 and I was in San Francisco for a week and LA for a week. Didn't notice it so much in San Francisco as the people I was with there didn't smoke but in LA some of them did. Some clubs on Sunset Boulevard didn't seem to care if you smoked, while other pubs and clubs around the city were very strict.

My mental age might be around 13 sometimes, my actual age is a bit older than that.

After looking at the Board profiles, turns out I'm about a month older than Morals.
