I'm getting a car for Christmas/birthday, and I wanted a mini with a union jack roof but my dad wouldn't let me cos apparently they're unreliable. :cry:

Well I dunno, apparently they're expensive to run aswell and always need work. My dads worked in the car industry for 25 years so I'm gussing he knows better than me.

hope you've got some spare cash because for someone your age I think insurance will be quite hight, espcially if you get a good spec one!

cash isnt a problem, i've saved enough over the years. my friend bought a brand new ford focus before going to leicester uni. very fast...

I sold my car when I came to uni because I couldn't afford the insurance. My insurance would have dropped now I'm 21 though.

The whole point of smart cars is that they're small city cars, designed for cities like Paris - they're basically designed for young Parisian ladies to drive to the patisserie in whilst looking chic...

They actually do what they were designed to do really well - they're designed for nipping through busy cities, they're a doddle to park and let's face it, in a city you're not going to worry about things like 0-60 times and top speeds as you're going to max out at about 5 MPH anyway...

I agree - Good concept, just they look odd in Britain compared with our huge cars. Have seen a few around here, never been in one tho.

As Sidla said minis are very reliable but you will have to watch the body work, the rust is treatable, but the minis lose thier shine often if so treat it with halfords foam tar remover.

i totally want a mine. i just got my driver's license (4 years late mind you), and now i'm drooling over every mini i see. would it be tacky if i got one with a union jack on the roof?

i can fly a light aircraft fairly easily, so driving shouldnt be a problem.
