i would love your statistics and source on that one.

even counting the number of people killed by drunk drivers, smoking deaths would far outweigh it. 100's of thousands of people die every year from passive smoking but these are never counted as smoking related.

how is one legally obliged? it just seems like they could ask if they felt like it, and have the law on their side. luckily i don't have to deal with this as california was one of the first states to ban it from all public places.

I was wondering how that worked. Where can people kill themselves, err smoke? If someone was standing in their front garden and the smoke was blowing onto the pavement (sidewalk), could they be legally stopped?

people smoking in their frontyard and having it go on the sidewalk is not illegal yet. smoking within 15 feet of a public building will lead to a citation, as is smoking in any bar, resteraunt, strip joint, music hall, and any other type of public space you could think of. this sorta sucks because this club i go to is an actual club with membership ($2 per year), and only allows members in, so it's "private" and kids can smoke in there. it's pretty bad on a cold night.
